To a guy making weight easily, not being willing to make 158 (2lbs) is just a strange decision IMO. 33 years old and hanging around is not a great idea.
Daniel Geale lost to Darren Barker man, he's way below average. So are guys Luke Munroe and Rubio. Lara is willing to fight GGG at 160 and they are saying it doesn't make business sense.
2) Hagler "hung around" and he's in the HOF. Still haven't seen any good reason for GGG to move up. He'll get more money and critical acclaim for beating Canelo at 160lb. Because if he beats Canelo at 155lb, naysayers will certainly try to discredit him "he beat up a smaller man @ 155 doe"
3) Geale gave a good accounting of himself in that fight, he dropped Barker in the 6th IIRC and lost in a close split decision. Geale also has wins vs Sturm and Sylvester in GERMANY. Barker wasn't a tomato can either. Persistent hip injuries derailed his career. it's sickening to see fans disrespect fighters who may not be elite, as if, if you not elite then you a bum.
4) Lara would be the most talented fighter on GGG's resume if that were to happen, but guess what...there is no public demand for it (or any fight involving Lara, really). Personally, I am a fan of Lara (and Cuban Boxing School in general) and would love to see that fight because I give Lara more credit than most on NSB.
4b) I wouldn't mind seeing Canelo/Lara @ 160lb. I think at 160lb, Lara wouldn't run around so fkn much. Probably be more confident sitting down on his shots.

Lara would beat anyone GGG has faced.
He's calling for the fight, would be his best opponent and GGG can't get fights with anyone better. So, why not? Unless a Munroe rematch makes more business sense, of course.
"I want to clean things out at 154-pounds and if I'm not able to do that, then I will move up to 160 and throw a challenge to whoever."
It's the familiar pattern: Lara has a fight coming up, wants GGG next. After the fight he's got other options he wants to exhaust first

Lara and Charlo are now fighting almost retired opponents. It's mind-boggling why they're not fighting each other. There's also Quillin and Jacobs waiting for him, fights of which are easier to make than an HBO fighter.

I'm already paying $10 a month for HBO and $50-$70 a PPV. Being a boxing fan is expensive.

I think he'd jump at that, give 70-30 Canelo favour you have to remember even with 30 percent that's huge amount of money.
Most I've heard recently is Canelo not wanting to budge a single pound but this is all hearsay we don't have this confirmed from Canelo own words but his trainers etc but obviously his trainers and not even his manager at time effect his choices If it did he'd likely have ducked Lara.
why the fk would GGG give up weight on the scale AND money?
Canelo could conceivably get stripped of WBC title (GGG elevated to full title holder)...and when he finally accepts 160lb as his weight class, come into the bout as a challenger.
Under WBC rules, that's 75/25 in champ's favor. but of course, they will negotiate and GGG could get lion share, at least 50/50. in that scenario Canelo loses his belt and $$ if the WBC vacates him. but WBC is a Mexican organization, they won't strip their countryman Canelo.
