Also, he has NEVER fought at 160, so it would be plain ****** for him and his team to fight the top 160 fighter right now, having never experienced fighting at such weight limit.

Now GGG, needless to say, is EXTREMELY comfortable at 160. Just look at the long list of people he has already KO'ed at that weight limit. Of course there's no big name there yet, but middle weight is usually a division where big names are rare, IMO. Rubio and Lemieux are big punchers though and GGG simply obliterated them easily.

So to me, it is cowardly, from each one of these fighters, to ask the other one to get completely out of their comfort zone and adapt to the other's comfortable weight.

I think a compromise could be the solution. GGG goes down a bit, while Canelo "goes up a bit" (meaning he drains himself a little bit less, in reality a much better deal for him I think) to 157.5

It sounds more fair to me, but I am positive that Canelo would get destroyed at that weight or higher. He couldn't KO tiny Cotto even though he did hit him flush no less than 10 times easily. His huge problem is that he has no continuity. He cannot sustain a flurry of more than five punches at the very best, because of his stamina and conditioning issues, as well as how slow his legs are (and then he starts missing into the air and that can really tire out a hulkish guy like him, rather quickly) yet conversely, GGG can do that rather comfortably because he is more nimble and quick on his feet, at least compared to Canelo, and IMO has much better (or rather less bad) stamina and conditioning. That's why GGG usually KO's his opponent and I would believe he would be able to do the same to Canelo.

I'd rather see Canelo lose to a real fighter that fights like a man like GGG, even by KO, than having seen him lose to Mayweather in a boring pot-shotting and super-defensive-style blowout.

Not sure if Canelo really won vs. Trout (a TRUE fighter who actually attacked Canelo most of the fight and totally outlanded him) or Lara (a true coward, with great skills though, why did he never fight Mayweather?), but none of these guys hit as powerfully as Canelo does, even though their fight night weights were similar to Canelo's. Neither does Angulo. GGG would be the first time that Canelo would face someone who can actually knock him down and also defeat him by KO.

So, 157.5, a compromise, no cowardly weight advantage for any of the two guys, how does it sound?

So thats what the sport has become, that champions WITHIN THE SAME DIVISION are "outside their comfort zone" by fighting someone at the division limit?

If thats true, then boxing is officially a joke.

I guarantee if Wilder asked for a 230 catchweight from Klitschko (well, 230 IS heavyweight you know), I guarantee there will be people here who defend it. (wilder small doe)

GGG's team should make a counter-offer somewhere closer to the middle.
If they decline, fuck it just go for it at CaneloWeight. Ginger still gets wrecked.

Either way Canelo isn't looking like that "throw-back fighter" everyone was hoping he would be, just another hypocrite paper chump holding belts hostage for $$$ like Cotto.

Had they at least considered that GGG couldn't make 154 in reality then they would have a point.
But but Floyd was worth the risk, GGG the A side doe.

They had no problem with GGG fighting an old guy 2 divisions below him at his weight class because he lacked the fire power to hurt Golovkin, they just wanted to see the bigger guy steam roll right through Floyd, size and weight be damned! lol

Now someone with skills and power, wants to fight GGG at a weight that GGG himself said he would be willing to come down to. All hell breaks loose.

What would happen if Canelo drops the belt and calls out GGG at 155? What would be the excuse then?

"I'll come down to 154 for any big ppv fight"- Golovkin

And until he, his team, and his fanbase completely accept that and conduct themselves accordingly. This guy is never gonna be anything more than what he is now. And that's a hyped up talent with a loud, yet small and rather insignificant cult following. And a guy that has done absolutely nothing in ths boxing ring to validate his supposed greatness.
Canelo/cotto may have sold 9-10 times what GGG/Lemuix did (more like 6-7). Canelo is the main draw in Vegas AND Texas. He is backed by ODH who is very powerful. He is now HBO's top guy. It appears he will take over the 2 biggest weekends.

The best argument is the WBC will stick to its word. This is an organization that is pro Mexican and tends to let the big earners get away with anything.

I might be wrong like I was when I said Manny should take $40 mil/no ppv offer. If I am proven wrong I will admit it as always.

I just do not see where GGG can avoid having terms dictated to him for this fight.

In the NFL, it's cheating to have a deflated ball......in boxing you deflate the boxer and it's good negotiation skills......joke.

he has one of the best resumes in boxing, all because of his "face all challengers" attitude. Holding the belt hostage? He's been champ for a few days, how exactly is he holding it hostage?

Wasn't GGG willing to drop to 154 for a big money fight comfortably, why not drop to whatever catch weight Canelo wants for a massive pay day, easy fight and the belt his team so desperately seeks? Talk about hypocrites.

Face it, GGG has no option. He either bends over backwards to every Canelo demand... Or picks up a vacant belt and continues fighting nobodies and remains with a frail resume.
