Good point. This is also the trade off Canelo is making.

If he beat GGG@ 160 and then unified all @ 160, he would get massive cred from hardcore fans, even those that do not respect him. By making it @ 155, he is choosing to sacrifice this in order to have a better chance of winning.

I think the GGG fans are missing this. 155 may help Canelo win, but the boxing community will hold it against him to a degree.

The problem is its not just GGG. It looks like he created a whole new weight class 155, i don't doubt his next division is 156 when 155 gets to hard to make. Some fighter do CW like Floyd and Pac but not like this. What Canelo is doing is shameful.

He can go down to 155 and get paid or let Canelo vacate and get paid a 10th of what a Canelo fight would bring and have to pay sanctioning fee's going forward.

In the end that's what this boils down.

If Golovkin wants to do that and spend his next year trying to sell fights with Andy Lee or Billy Joe Saunders or Tureano Johnson then that's his choice.

Surprised Floyd boys aren't in an uproar about this as the supposed vanguards of fair game. Under no circumstances should Canelo be allowed to win another middleweight belt at a catchweight. Golovkin should give him the middle finger and the fans should tell him to grow a set, this is deplorable.

except for the fact ggg said to ward 164. does ggg want big fights or a belt collection? canelo didnt even want to fight for the 160 belt for this very reason cause he had no intention of fighting at 160 yet
