Bradley's small at WW, now he has to go up to 155lbs to fight a guy who comes into the ring at 175lbs? Rios weighing 175lbs is not the same at Alvarez weighing 175lbs, especially if Alvarez doesn't have to weigh-in at 147lbs the night before.

Cotto showed he could outbox Alvarez, but he was ineffective against him due to the size difference. What the hell is the light-punching Bradley going to do? Not only that, but Bradley's on the slide after the Provodnikov fight. Jessie freaking Vargas rocked him....

No, Canelo's weight is whatever he wants it to be, same as ODH weight for BHop was 157 and Floyd's weight for Canelo was 152.

With Floyd out, Canelo is now the once in a lifetime payday, a point you seem to be overlooking.

As for not being to bright, you seem to be the one that is having a hard time reading the tea leaves. Canelo can make GGG fight at whatever weight he wants if GGG wants the payday.

We can agree its not right that a title bout should be at a CW. But Canelo has all the leverage and GGG has said some stuff that Canelo's side will use at the negotiating table.

As a GGG fan you may not like this, but that doesn't mean it will not happen this way.

      • I feel like Canelo's side don't know wtf they are talking about quite yet or this fight won't be for the WBC title. The WBC is changing its rules to same day weigh ins next year & they are also having a 10lb re-hydration weigh limit by fight night.

Does anyone really think Canelo can weigh 155 in the morning & weigh no more than 165 by fight time or more importantly wanna go thru all that? I'm guessing no & no.

Regardless GGG just needs to say yes all day & make this fight happen. This is the door for him becoming more mainstream & he's going to be a huge favorite here.

        • Sweet karma.

Surely the GGG fans think this is a boss move and the right one for Canelo, no?

          164lbs anyone?

          ****ing dumbasses

But anyway it's a travesty. Canelo weights 175 fight night he sould ****ing fight at 160.
I ain't sayin it's right but you flopp on PPV. You do what you got to do. He has to choices.

            A. Take the $$$$$$ and Fame and work some CW out.

            B. Back to 97K PPV buys or no PPV for awhile beating up unknowns until HBO gets tired of it or you retire from old age.

35 years old??? I would take door "A".

I just do not understand why Chaos doesn't get this.

History shows us that those wanting a payday are made to make concessions. Now I know a lot of GGG fans think this is just about the title for GGG but its about the money.

If he wants the payday, 155. He can always say no and then take his chances. He has a HBO deal so its not like he will go broke.

But he is passing up a chance to get a win over a hugely popular fighter in front of more than a million viewers on PPV, along with the biggest purse available for him in all of boxing (now that Floyd is retired.) Why wouldn't he take the risk?

It's not like he wouldn't be favored to win over Canelo anyway. Even at 155.
EXACTLY!!!!! Thank you. GGG can always say no, but in doing so it means losing out on the chance to become the mainstream guy he wants to be.

Frankly, Floyd, Canelo, Manny, Bhop and a whole list of other fighters, including ATG's and 1st ballot HOF'ers had to make the same decision GGG appears to be faced with. They said ok, did what they had to, won the big fight, and went on to superstardom.

                  • Can a mandatory defense be at a catchweight?
If not, then this will be at MW limit and probably a purse bid.

Canel has a choice of vacating the title or paying wbc and ggg.

                    • Would agree with that if he wasn't the mandatory, in any other situation if you want the big money fight you compromise some, when you don't need to you don't. Canelo took 152 vs Mayweather because he had to but wouldn't have as a mandatory.
