  • Money can buy you ring size, glove type, drug testing and now arbitrary weight limitations.

Which of these is likely to make for the biggest advantage to a fighter?

I like Alvarez but maintaining this '155lbs' crap means he is hiding behind a pile of cash and DLHs bull****. Fight at the weight or drop the belt.

'LADIESSS AND GENTLEMEN, I give you the new 70.3068 kilogram champion of the world......'

    Hilarious!

ALso, please stop with GGG is starving himself or will be drained. He and his team said otherwise.
Buddy seriously ....its the middleweight title and its a mandatory...irrespective whether canelo is the biggest draw around now....he still is nowhere near the world force or a PACQUAIO or mayeather...plus he lost easily to floyd....plus he should have lost to Lara .....canelo is holding a middlweight title and he has to defend it against middleweights and that's not just golovkin so I'm not being biased...now for the good of boxing and to get the title back in the 154 to 160 world and not catchweight world...golovkin should say ok Lets do 157 which is fair on both sides....that I have no problem with not some mexican trainer saying come to our weight class of 155 when it literally is a sauna away from light middleweight ....mayweather was a low risk big reward....canelo is big risk low reward ...big difference buddy

But apparently there is a 164lb division...

        • for the life of me I dont understand why people have such a hard time differentiating between what concessions someone might make in a voluntary fight, as opposed to a mandatory.

Its really not that hard a distinction to make.

I guess we have alot of "Special Olympics" candidates in this thread.

          "but but but 164 doe"

          lol. idiots

          • Well, now the ball is in GGG and his team court. They need to decide between getting their biggest fight/purse possible and bend to Canelos's catchweight demands or getting the WBC belt. If Canelo gets stripped by the WBC, he's still the Lineal Middleweight Champion!

Ok, I understand your points, I just think you are underestimating the gap between Canelo and GGG.

What you are suggesting is fair, but history and experience teach us that "fair" is not how the game works.

The bottom line is Floyd is gone, Manny is on the way out and Canelo beat Cotto. He has the qwan. If GGG wants it, he is being told what he can do to get his chance.

He can always say no and take his chances.

GGG goes and fights the Lee-Saunders winner on a PPV that struggles to do 100K. Canelo likely either gets a rematch with Floyd or a superfight with Manny. All the while GGG is making mandatories against unknown cab drives while his 100K fans are circle jerking about how great he is.
You obviously think the boxing world revolves around HBO PPV figures. It doesn't. That's just the American live TV audience. GGG's fights are televised all over the world. I watched GGG/Lemieux on Boxnation PPV, in the UK.

Wlad became one of the biggest stars in boxing without any HBO PPV coverage at all. If GGG becomes boxings only unified, 4 belt world champ he can do the same, and the big HBO numbers would certainly come after that.

Canelo won't get fights with Floyd or Manny, btw. But even if he did, why should that worry Golovkin?

                  • if he won't budge from 155 then let him be stripped. his body will force him up to 160 soon anyway and then he'll have nowhere to run
