Lee a possibility I suppose but if he ducks Golovkin, then I don't think he'll be going up to 160.
Why wouldn't he fight Lee if he doesn't want to fight GGG yet? I think he would be willing to fight Lee at 160 but not GGG at 160 yet, he would obviously see GGG as more of a threat than lee.

if his reason for not fighting GGG is that he's "not ready for 160 yet", then fighting Lee at 160 would be a really bad look for him........

They should make it. Wht other options do really guy have. There's no other MW title fights that GGG can take that he won't be expected to steamroll through them. Nor is there any fights at 168 if Ward is 175 now and Froch stays retired instead of fighting him.

And for Canelo, he now has a MW title and said in his post-fight interview he will fight GGG whenever, so he's backed himself into a corner where no other fight is acceptable now. There's no big fights around 154 unless Floyd comes back, and the only big fight fight for Canelo that people want to see is GGG.

It makes sense and nobody is really going to swallow Canelo going back on his word and fighting anyone else.

Obviously either guy could fight Lee/Saunders to pick up their belt or Quillen/Jacobs but it's not really going to do anything for them.

Golden Boy are in a tough position with this one. They need to keep Canelo's stardom ticking over so need at least one very big fight in 2016 and there's only really GGG that people want, but a loss to him is going to be damaging too. He's almost damned if he does and loses and damned if he doesn't fight at all.

And I could never accept a fighter I support avoiding world-class opponents and choosing to take the easy way out.

          You new-age " fans " are a hoot.

          LMFAO!

You're not going to accept it? Have you told Mauricio Sulaiman that yet?

If not, better do it quickly. Deadline expires in 14 days.

Re your sig, I'll ask you again, who is the smaller man Golovkin has publicly challenged and refused to discuss a catchweight?

Lee might be willing to drop a few pounds just for the money, although it depends how the Saunders fight plays out too. It's a pretty big fight in the UK, so if that's close and a good fight then we might get a rematch anyway. He might make more fighting Saunders again then a B-side to Canelo. There's good money in these domestic fights.

Not dis*****g that, i'm addressing the guy who spent the last 6 weeks in here talking about how Canelo was going to get schooled and stopped. Agree with you outright Cotto won two rounds and he was doing well until his legs started giving out on him due to the body punches and the uppercuts he ate.

GGG's fans seem to be salivating at the thought of a Canelo fight. And seem to think Ginger is some kinda sacrificial lamb. But I'm not totally convinced that GGG is as big a favorite in that one as people think. Canelo has faster hands. He is better defensively. And he's by far the best fighter Gennady has ever faced.

Of course it would look bad on him, i would even criticise him. It is like GGG wanting to fight Froch at 168 but not too keen on Ward at the same weight. Makes you look bad.

jesus christ you people are like a broken record. Is the concept of "leverage" and "negotiation" foreign to you? Does a team need to always submit their "best and last" offer first, right out of the gate? And are comments from a promoter to a reporter now considered as "official offers"?

                    Let it go already......
