the absurd expectation that whatever concessions a fighter is willing to make for one opponent, those same concessions must be made for every other opponent discussed, regardless of timing or circumstances. Its ridiculous. First off, K2 NEVER submitted a formal offer to Ward at 164, or any weight. The 164 thing was a "what if" comment made to Dan Rafael. At the time K2 was looking at 168 fighters, Ward was unavailable with injuries and promotional issues. So what was offered to Froch or Chavez at that time is irrelevant. And once Ward WAS actually available, GGG had other plans, and Ward, or anyone else at 168, didnt fit into them.

It baffles me as to how this is so difficult for people to understand.

The only way this marinates to a bigger fight is if GGG and Canelo fights next the winners of Saunders/Lee & Quillin/Jacobs.

No other fight prior to this can be made in the same weight class to make it bigger.

and fyi, trying to compare mandatory defenses within a single division to hypothetical matchups between fighters 2 divisions apart makes a person look like an idiot.

I will say this, GGG presents an easier style for Canelo to deal with than people think. He's there to be hit, and will come forward all night. Canelo has struggled against movers, and I really believe Canelo is not a pressure fighter at all.

He lacks the output to be a pressure fighter, and we saw that again yesterday. Personally, it was frustrating to see Canelo fight hard enough just to win, since I know he has the skills to get his guys out of there, if he simply pressed much more.

Against GGG, I think he has much more output than against movers, obviously. The danger, though, is getting into exchanges with GGG. Again, I would like to see Canelo fully grow into middleweight, fight 2-3 middleweights, feel their power, have stamina against bigger guys, and try to carry power into division.

I think the fact that Canelo is still able to make 155 indicates he is not quite a middleweight yet, since a true middleweight probably kills himself trying to make 155. So, I'm not opposed to seeing Canelo take 2-3 fights at 160 before fighting GGG. I think its crazy to jump straight into a division and fight the best guy there, right off the bat.

Yes, good points, as Canelo can still make 154 if he really wanted he definitely is not a middleweight yet.

He should just vacate the title. It really doesnt mean that much.

Then he take 2-3 fights against real 160lb-ers before challenging for the title again and in the meantime just bank the money he's saved on sanctioning fees!

What should be baffling to you is how you can't understand that he and his team's actions are what posters are annoyed about.

When posters see GGG and his team make an effort to work toward the money fights but not the challenging fights, he is going to get criticism, especially since most of GGG's diehard fans were the most vocal critics of this type of career planning when other fighters did it.

SO why you as a GGG fan make it seem like what GGG and his team did was fine and no big deal, others see GGG and his team as the reason the Ward/GGG fight wasn't made and are calling him on it.

maybe GGG vs. Lara and Canelo vs. one of the Charlo boys?
