Cotto totally doesn't care about money, he earned it doe, Cotto-stans would defend Cotto no matter what you'd defend him if he went on a killing spree and joined ISIS well not all but I think in recent weeks we've learned which type of fans are the worst of the lot on this board...

Hint I'm messaging one of them right now.

I really can't think how any of you guys could defend him right now, he's such a flaming hypocrite!

      Cotto basically said this -
      "WBC are financially motivated"
Then he did the following BEFORE vacating the belt:
      • Used the WBC belt as advertisement to the fight
      • Used the WBC belt in negotiating stages with ODLH & Alvarez to get higher %
      • Also used it to get first ring entrance and god knows what other stipulations I believe something to do with avoiding VADA
      • He gave the fans a false allure that the winner of this could possibly fight the real MW king
      • He lied to everyone!

Then after all of this THEN and only then did he decide oh Its nearly the last minute I don't want to pay that $1.1 million to WBC and Golovkin, I hereby vacate my belt.

How is it unfair on boxing that he pays what he is entitled to, why does he think he is bigger than the sanctioning bodies of boxing and the people who promote chumps like Cotto?
He made a fool of boxing as a whole and If you're a real fan of this god damn sport you would call him out on this and you wouldn't make pathetic excuse because he is earning possibly above $20 million hell he might be earning way more than that I don't know exactly but I know for sure $1.1 out of his pocket when this fight is done is pennies to this prick.

You really could go on and on analyzing this B.S. what's worse is he's trying to blame everyone but himself that's the worst part of it all.
^ This was the plan the whole time. Excellent analysis

WBC violated their own rules by sanctioning the interim belt in rubio vs ggg, when according to their own rules, that was not supposed to be allowed. They bended their own rules there to suite their needs.
        Post 46

Also, suit what needs? Cotto is the 2nd biggest PPV star in the world after Pac (w/ Floyd now retired). Why would they not want him to hold their belt. They would make a lot of money off of Cotto. Your conspiracy theory doesn't make any sense dude LOL

stop playing ****** you know the rules. The only way you can have an interim champion is if there’s a champion in recess, the titlist can’t defend because he’s injured or there are some other meaningful circumstances. Those are interim championship rules... the rubio-lil'g fight shouldn't have been sanctioned as an interim title fight because since Cotto became the champion, they are supposed to eliminate the interim title.

but nope... they get those sanctioning fees for their WBC Wold, Interim, Diamond & Silver titles.

but go ahead and keep supporting multiple titles in each organization, because they went against their own rules for interim titles from the get go.

As part of the entire agreement, Cotto was obligated to pay mandatory challenger Gennady "GGG" Golovkin a step-aside fee of $800,000. While Cotto agreed to pay the step-aside, he refused to meet the WBC's demand of $300,000 to sanction the fight. He offered $125,000 - which the WBC rejected.

I do agree with Cotto that this is financially motivated ,but everything in boxing now a days is about money.
And I do agree that 300,000 is a steep sanctioning fee.
But disagree with this is unfair to the fans. Everyone that I know wants to see the winner of Cotto vs Canelo fight GGG.
It would not be fair to the fans not to have that fight made.

why would cotto vacate a belt he earned the wbc stripped Garcia because he was a unified champ they forced Floyd to drop the other belts he had ggg shouldn't be able to fight for the wbc belt when he has other belts that's the rule the wbc just got exposed on how corrupt they are again
