He's on record saying that he has no interest in fighting Chavez Jr in a March 2015 interview.

His message has remained clear. MW division, with only exception being big names. Just because he expressed interest in fighting Chavez 2 years ago doesn't mean he has any interest now.
He didn't have interest in Chavez then because Chavez was with Haymon and had gotten his ass kicked. Less than a year earlier when Chavez was still big money Golovkin signed to fight him at 168.

In March 2015 he was trying to jump ship from middleweight to fight Froch.

        1. It's April, not August.
        2. Read what he actually says, it's a generic comment. "I'm ready for anybody". Nobody watches a fighter lose and says "I wanna fight that guy!"

When you look at Lil G resume his best win is Martin Murray a solid fighter but no where near the level that Taylor faced in his time. Lil G will never be great if he refuses to take risks and fight guys like Ward or Lara as far as i'm concern he's nothing but hype until he adds either Ward, Lara, Canelo name in there.
I was a JT fan and it drove me crazy how soft of opposition he was fed on his way up. His ESPN opponents were horrible even for journeymen. His HBO pre-Nard fights were worthless; Bunema, Marquez, Eduard, and Joppy. I so badly wanted to see him fight guys like Allen, Eastman, Echols, Council, even JMW's like Lerma, Jones, Phillips. DiBella was overly cautious with Taylor and I didn't think he was preparing him well enough for Hopkins.

Then after Hopkins he defended against 3 straight light-punching JMW's: Wright, Ouma, and Spinks. None of those victories/draw looked good for Taylor either.

He has the Hopkins wins, but other than that his resume was poor at MW.

Nobody was trying to 'jump ship'. He said MW unless it's a big money/name recognition fight. Froch is big money fight at 168. Floyd was big money fight at 154. Chavez (when he was popular) was big money fight at 168.

When Ward said he'll fight Floyd at 160, was he trying to jump ship too?

Cotto just conceded into the fact that GGG is twice the fighter and man that he could ever be, this is a good victory for Golovkin because the people who think Cotto is an ATG and HOF (bull**** imo) must rate GGG even higher.

Only Americans are saying its worth jumping from 160 to 168 to fight Ward, not even Froch would do that If he was a cash cow at 160.

Sooner you get it through your heads that Ward isn't a big name the better, you should blame Froch for not pulling through with a deal to make the fight happen because that's the only way you'd have got to see GGG at 168 earlier than he intended on.
People go up in weight for big draws not little draws, wake up and smell the coffee or do you think because boxing nerds on here know Ward that everyone does? lol.

                    Actually Andre Ward did.

"That's the fight that fans want to see. I don't necessarily think they want to see him and Sergio Martinez again. It was a great 12th round but it's pretty much going to be the same fight. Chavez is busting out of 160, he's coming to 168. If he comes to 168 then I think we should see each other. I think that's a mega, mega fight the fans will want to see. ... I'm going to tell you this: Chavez Jr is not an easy fight. A lot of people say it's easy but that's not an easy fight. He's a big kid, he's a strong kid and he can punch."

                    Of course he changed his tune 7 months later when it was evident Chavez wasn't going to face him;

“He [Froch] doesn’t want to fight,” Ward said to ******. “Froch is behind the scenes trying to get the weak link, which is Chavez Jr., but I can’t blame him. Froch is 36 or 37-years-old. He’s trying to cash out. He doesn’t want a real challenge like Groves or even myself, and that’s fine."

The best in the middleweight division until he either leaves the division, loses, or retires is Miguel Cotto.
Sure he is hahahahaha, especially because at MW he beat the almighty Daniel Geale, the powerful Edwin Rodriguez and the Champion Sergio Martinez while in his prime and when his knees were ultra healthy, having a piece of cloth and metal that says THE RING sure makes you the best fighter in the world, great logic!
