Hard to disagree with Cotto here. I want to see the winner fight GGG, sure, but that is a ****ing absurd amount of money, and what the hell is up with the WBC having a unified champion as their mandatory challenger anyway? Wasn't it just, like, two years that they said they would no long allow their belt to be unified with any other sanctioning body?

Fucking crooks. The smaller fighters on their way up need the belts because it forces the guys who want tho belts to fight you if they want any recognition. But for a superstar fighter like Cotto, he could just make his own belt for $300 and put it up for grabs when he fights someone. It would have the same amount, if not more, credibility than the current sanctioning bodies.

We haven't seen the contract, if they exist at all. No point in speculating about how could sue who without knowing the details. Cotto is not going to do anything to compromise roc nation.

Cotto can agree to anything. If there is no enforceable contract he is free to change his mind. Seems to me ggg lawyers are about to get sued for malpractice.

No, certainly not. Only an immature troll would post something as childish as that.

He paid some of the money to golovkin upfront, the sanctioning is another thing. Either that or one of these boxing sites is lying.

IF this reporting is correct and Cotto isn't paying GGG then I think we can be confident about 2 things:
                      a) there will be a lawsuit because under WBC rules GGG was the mandatory and WBC only allowed Cotto to fight Canelo as a voluntary because he was able to come to an agreement with GGG's team. So if he renegaded on that agreement he will be sued and he will very likely end up paying more than 800K.
                      b) this Cotto strategy is most likely a scheme of Roc Nation. It will be interesting to see how they continue to make waves in the business. If they really have welshed on a deal with GGG's team that will impact the trust that others have in their deal making and that will influence their business going forward. karma.

I thought Cotto's strategy of holding onto the belt as a negotiating chip with Canelo and Golden Boy then using it to promote the fight as a world championship then dumping it at the last moment was deeply cynical but would kinda give him a pass on it. But if he really has done all that AND renegaded on GGG's team, who have twice worked with him and given him a break along with the WBC to fight for the title then take a 2 voluntaries, I'm afraid that is way over the line. That's just really ****ty behavior. I just hope it's not true.
