People who move against Golovkin make the fight easier for him. His cuts the ring off too well and his jab is too good, the best way to beat him is to fight him at close range where he can't get extension on his punches and generate maximum power. You have to smother him, try to push him back and outwork him. Beating him by using your feat would be extremely difficult.

Haymon brought them up like a fraternity of some sort -- his fighters will be paid from the TV commercials or they will fight pro bono... It's free boxing, at the end of the day.

I'm 100% for Golovkin/Lara. Lara's a big JMW, rehydrates to the same 170lbs that Golovkin does. It'd be a perfect fight for Golovkin to have in San Antonio where Lara's fought in the past and he's from nearby Houston. Lara would also be a common opponent with Canelo.


Only thing I wonder is if Haymon would allow. He's ****-blocked every fight in the last couple years involving his fighters on HBO.

He hasn't blocked HBO fights. He was banned from HBO by Ken Hershman. Hershman talked about it last week in his interview with Fat Dan. People wake up blaming Haymon.

Lara moving up makes the MW division better. He'll immediately be a top 5 fighter in the division. What'll be interesting is which one of GGG's belts he'll go after, hopefully it's the WBC. They're the most consistent in enforcing their mandatories. Is HBO willing to go to purse bid for GGG? This is a game of attrition. After Pacquiao's last fight, Kovalev/Ward, GGG/Canelo or Cotto HBO has no big fights left. You can't build a network on Roman Gonzalez.

It doesn't work like that. Someone always steps up and creates a fanbase. By the time those 3 fights play out by end of 2016 Verdejo might have stepped up or any other guy under the radar now. When did HBO ever run out of fights lol? If there isn't a genuine superstar around they know how to create one.

Lomo/Russell happened b/c it went to purse-bid and was won by Haymon/Showtime. Stieverne and his manager agreed to the money for the Ortiz fight, King/Haymon then waited til the last second and said no. It's been stated clearly many times, that with Kovalev signed to HBO that HBO has first rights to the fight. Haymon only needs to name a price and HBO can reject it and Haymon is free to put it on PBC, but he won't even name a price to them.

I've said it before - Haymon just spent over $300 million on tv time-buys and over pricing fight purses so that he could drown out the competition. HBO is his only competitor now, it would not be consistent with his business practice up to this point to give HBO a big fight, especially if it makes one of their stars a bigger name.

It went to a purse bid, they won, we got to see the fight, right? You're upset because Haymon didn't do HBO any favors? It's not up to Haymon to look out for the best interests of HBO. HBO has proven this year that they have no problem airing mismatches, the problem is they don't want to pay for those mismatches. They even made the viewers pay for a PPV mismatch. Loeffler said the only way the fight could happen was PPV. But looking at the purses from Bradley/Rios/Loma they matched GGG/Lemiuex/Gonzalez.

If Kovalev can't fight off network he should stop fighting for titles. The rules of the title organization trumps TV contracts.You criticize Haymon for going to purse bid with one of his fighters but you have no problem with RNS, who had no affiliation with either Quillin or Korobov, using the same system. Why didn't RNS make Haymon an offer? Your other double standard (it's really an excuse) is why would Haymon use an HBO fighter if it's going to make the HBO fighter a bigger star. Why would HBO use a PBC fighter if its going to make the PBC fighter a bigger star? It goes both ways. I just want to see the fights by any means necessary. HBO boxing is on borrowed time.
