He has gotten more than his due of respect from American fans...Its just the guys in the sport, fighters, trainers, journalists and people that have been around the sport a long time don't want to prematurely anoint him as some ATG and he hasn't proven it.....I don't get why some of his die hard fans don't understand this

As for me beating the winner of that fight makes him lineal champion at 160...nothing more or less because neither guy has done much at middleweight....Quillen, and Lee though they are not as popular or sell as many tickets would be more dangerous opponents for GGG.

if he beats Cotto/Canelo and nabs a win over the winner of Quillen/Jacobs or Lee....He'd have earned a place on my p4p list.

History in this sport has shown us that to be a star, beating a star helps, although that does not even give a guarantee.

If GGG fought Ward and beat him, it would help, although Ward himself is not a "star", a fight between them would generate a lot of press. Every little bit helps.

The same thing would happen if he beat Cotto or Canelo. Even though they create a lot more money, they are not truly "stars". The last Stars in this sport is Floyd and Manny. We may never see another breakthrough for a long time with this sport.

GGG's team are trying very hard though to get GGG's name out there, but I cannot see another star coming along in this sport for a while. This sport is in somewhat of a recession from the Big One.

Maybe Mayweather is simply jealous that GGG is now the star, and much more popular than himself.

It's funny to me how the only way some people will give Golovkin any credit at all is if he moves up in weight and beats Andre Ward. Is he some kind of gatekeeper? If he were to move up in weight and lose to Andre Ward, he's a fraud? What kind of logic is that, seriously? Last time I checked Ward was an undefeated Olympic Gold medalist who cleaned out the 168 pound division (when he was active) and was/is pound 4 pound #2 fighter in the world. It's the same kind of bizarre logic when Pacquiao lost to Mayweather and people started saying Pac was a fraud. So losing to Floyd is a shameful act huh? Right.

Strange that he's the only person that could give Gennady any credit according to these people. If Golovkin were to beat Peter Quillin, Andy Lee and Canelo next year, unifying every belt in the division, it's no good? lol ok. If he were to beat Carl Froch at 168, that's not good enough, even though that is by far Ward's best win in his career? OK. If Ward lost to Kovalev at 175 does that make him a bum all of a sudden? I guess so.

With that said I see the fight going one of two ways - highly competitive with either Ward winning a decision or Golovkin by KO. Neither of which would mean either guy is a bum/overrated/etc. They are both highly skilled fighters.

Floyd is still talking about random testing. This guy is so desperate to sweep the IV stuff under the rug.
