Roman has silenced a lot of the critiques lately with his recent KO over Viloria ; there was a good number of poster cheering for the Hawaiian. Then earlier this week the Japanese phenom Inoue made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with Gonzalez. Now they are running out of ideas and desperate so its no surprise they had to go way up to 122 and started using Rigo as a 'real' test.
Not so much a stall as waiting for his and some other fights to come in. Only update that stuff a few times a year.

I see no reason to hate. For his style alone, he gets major points for being aggressive. He's very entertaining and should go far. He'll probably be the number two Nicaraguan ever behind Arguello. If he keeps going, he might even surpass the "Explosive Thin Man" but he has a lot of work to do to get there.

Oh I agree for right now, but give him a few years and it will be hard to make that case. Mayorga had some big wins but he's been a stepping stone for a while now.

He is but I will give him credit. He had a fun style and really knew how to hype up a fight. He played a great villain and would fight anybody. Hard not to respect him.

this is a joke right? gonzalez was the best fighter in 3 divisions. he beat the #1 guy at 105 and 112. he beat estrada who's ranked #2 behind him right now. he beat a guy who's #2 still right now at 105. mayorga beat vernon forrest. it's close!

Viloria hadn't had a big win in years and was beating 10-6,12-4 type guys before roman.

Bradley, rigo, kovolev, wlad, manny all have better wins since roman best Estrada way back in 2012..
People crush andre Ward because he hasn't done anything since beating dawson n froch, yet roman hasn't done anything since beating Estrada in 2012

Roman fights in incredibly shallow divisions,, 105-112 is basically as deep as ufc women's division,,, roman is like Rhonda rousey, great fighters but beating up on overmatched opponents.. Of roman's divisions were stacked, then why was he fighting 38-29, 11-4 guys last year???
Viloria, Fuentes, Sosa etc are all old n faded by the time roman fought them.. It's like danny Garcia beating Judah, morales, and pauli

Roman in the past few years, hasn't fought the best around him ie ioka, Estrada rematch, uwreungong, inyoau, etc..

Roman is a great fighter, but fail to see how he is p4p #1, especially over guys with better wins like Kovolev, Rigo, Wlad, bradley, manny..
Sure roman is exciting but so is GGG and kovolev..

The p4p #1 is vacant since floyd retired, roman deserves his chance to prove himself #1, but you can't justify that ranking now..
                  Great post.

His resume of 35 year olds ready to retire is not impressive.

Any fighter NSB hypes up is overrated, any fighter NSB puts down is actually very good. That's the formula.

Kovalev Best wins Hopkins (50 years old, no top win in 3 years), Pascal (solid contender, no where near as good as people say), Cleverly (???), Mohemmedi (?), Campillo (old, reputation based on robberies vs **** fighters).

Wlad Best recent wins: Haye (nothing really achieved at heavy), Povetkin (solid win, terrible reffing), Pulev (crap), Tony Thompson (fat, old, never any good).

Rigondeaux Best Wins: Donaire (obviously a very good win), Cordoba (solid contender, long time ago), Agbeko (decent contender well past his best). Inactive/poor opp since 2013.

Bradley Best Wins: Pacquiao (lol. No one thought he won this fight), JM Marquez (good win over an old featherweight), Alexander (good win. Long time ago, Alexander achieved very little since), eeer Provodnikov? (nearly lost, Provodnikov not very good), Abregu? (fringe contender), Witter? (old, never that good)

Manny: Obviously best record of any active fighter. Hasnt looked great in years though. Best Recent Wins: Bradley (Bradley injured), Algieri (ok, I guess), Rios (yeah).

See how easy it is to crap on fighters resume?

There is no clear no,1 P4P today, Gonzalez is as good a pick as any. He's in his prime, brilliantly skilled, has wins over former, current and future world champions, no.1 in 3 divisions. You also cant ignore the way he beats his opponents. Outside of Estrada he has barely even been troubled despite the competition level being high.

The way you guys pick apart RG's resume and put guys like Kovalev and Bradley above him shows obvious bias IMO.
