Hard to know how serious the injury is, but one would think that Ward should fight through quite an injury since the opponent is so undemanding.

Well if the injury isn't serious, he can get in the ring by February. A lot of the top lhws should be free to fight Ward by February or early March. Also if everything goes to scheduled he can still fight Kovalev by the end of the year. He can fight in February, than June or July and than fight Kovalev in late November or December.
