BT: The 3-fight deal you signed with HBO, I know you haven't officially spoken too much about it, but reports say that it's supposed to end in a showdown with unified light heavyweight champion Segey Kovalev. Is that officially the goal, to fight Kovalev in that 3rd fight?

AW: Absolutely. I'm not ducking nothing and never have. At the end of the day, there's no way I'ma come to Kovalev's neighborhood at 175 and at some point not knock on his door and want to play. So that's just that! Kovalev is the real deal and I appreciate the way he's gone about it. He's fought the best competition that he can fight. He's not only fought the best competition, but he went to their backyard to do it, so you gotta respect a guy who does that. I don't think he gets a lot of the credit that he deserves. That's the difference between the way guys are brought up in the different eras versus maybe now. These days, guys, they wait until they see a weakness or they want to pick somebody after they got beat or they got hurt or something happened when they saw a flaw. It's like, nah, we're coming up to 175 knowing that Kovalev is the top dog. I respect Kovalev and at some point, we're going to bump heads. I think he's an all-around good fighter. He seems to be a hard hitter, and not only that, but he's skillful, so that won't be an easy fight.
I am not ducking and never have.... Lol

He ducked Bute and a return with Kessler because it was not in jOakland.

But I appreciate athletes and no athletes deserves to be injured.

I don't wish injury on anyone, but I felt that something may not be right about him. I said a long time ago I didn't think Ward was physically the same as before. These Athletes give it there all, and they have this happen, it sucks.

I love to clown, but I truly don't wish bad on anyone.

Now I'm wondering if his body just can't hold up. If he knew before hand about this, it goes a long way towards explaining the crappy opponents.

I don't wanna be too harsh, no one deserves to have their career derailed or ended by injury.

        Gods speed to getting healthy.
I think mental ward is on PED's and they are trying to figure out him adding a little weight for LH and might have trouble with the PED formula. the way he was throwing around Froch who was the strongest SM I ever saw I figured he was juiced. maybe the phony testing is a little better now and they have to get around it

shoulder injuries are common when juicing. the cyborg holyfield always had shoulder problems

Wonder what this does to his clash with Kov - is it moved further down the line, or is Ward gonna fight 3x in 2016?
I think Ward will never attain the same level he got to after Super six. His time at or near the pinnacle of the sport is done.

An injury would explain why he has been so tentative with all these tuneups. He probably realistically is nursing several nagging injuries.. shoulder, knee, and Lord knows what else.

Not everyone can pull a Floyd being inactive then coming back a world beater. And some guys have very short primes. I think Ward's prime is dead and gone. He's eating off the byword of himself from yesteryore... on to the next one.

            • lol, wtf. He'll probably line up another three tune ups when he recovers, then get injured during one of the camps and start the tune up saga all over again. He's never fighting Kovalev. Kovalev certainly shouldn't wait around for this guy.

And I used the term "people" in the loosest possible terms when it comes to the swamplife cancerous fanboys that support GGG.

You give me a link which states that "According to FightHype sources, Andre Ward has finalized his three-fight deal with HBO which will feature him on the upcoming Cotto-Canelo card and line him up for a showdown with Sergey Kovalev" ... "with him finally taking on Sergey Kovalev in what will probably be next Fall."

Thanks, but I was able to read the news by myself...
Roc Nation announced the deal within the last week here on boxingscene.

It's also on every other boxing site, so I'm not providing a link.

It's hard to believe anyone on here is actually bought into the hype and lies of Andre Ward, its almost WWE-esque some people just want to root for the guy who acts like a complete d*ck.

Nothing wrong with being a bit of an ass but when you don't back that confidence up with fighting top guys that isn't right.

                    • There are actually people who are delighting that a fighter got injured and had to cancel

                      Just wow.

I completely understand why Dirk said what he said earlier.

                      Fkn shameful.
