Hyde: Rigo Destroyed Own Career..."Turned Down Many Multi-Million Dollar Offers"
Collapse

Sometimes it is sometimes it isn't. I thought it was known earlier this year that Rigondeaux was waiting for his contract to end with Hyde (in September I believe) because he obviously wanted out and thought he could do better (the thought at the time was he'd go with Haymon). I think the matters are more complicated because of Caribe Promotions are still in the picture, who obviously ****ing suck ass and are absolute horse ****. It also could have been one of those scenarios where his manager and/or promoter are saying we'll get you a fight in the meantime, but you have to sign an extension, so in that case it certainly would be better to sit on the sidelines. We don't know all the details to say one way or another but the whole situation is very messy and complicated. Rigondeaux signed some terrible contracts not long after he defected because quite frankly, he didn't know any better (how could he?).Comment

I understand guys wanting to get paid what they feel they deserve but at what point is refusing paydays better than actually getting paid.
The more Rigo fought the more paychecks he cashes and his relevancy would continue to pressure guys to step up and fight it's a whole lot easier to avoid someone who is nowhere to be found and forgotten about.Comment

I doubt it was that simple. Rigondeaux has always seemed like a guy that just wants to fight. But like I said above, there could have been other stipulations involved in some of these offers, contract extensions, etc. We're only hearing one side of the story which is very vague at that.Comment

Who knows what happens behind closed doors but Rigo comes off as a guy who wants to fight for the right paydays more...just my perceptionI doubt it was that simple. If that's what he wants ...cool I won't knock him but getting paid something is better than nothing.Originally posted by THE REED™Dont blame him.Comment

The offers were $1.8 million for 3 fights. So $600K per. So if he gets injured in the first fight he would make $600K less expenses for the year.I doubt it was that simple. Rigondeaux has always seemed like a guy that just wants to fight. But like I said above, there could have been other stipulations involved in some of these offers, contract extensions, etc. We're only hearing one side of the story which is very vague at that.Comment

Fighthype is only interested when Arum is the subject of chicanery and dishonesty, pretending at the same time they're concerned about multi-millionaire Pacman's welfare. Rigo is too insignificant for them.I'm just curious. Why is Fighthype not interested in Rigondeaux's case? They usually spend vast amounts of time interviewing everyone connected to such topic, ie, promoter vs boxer... Fans are wondering why Rigo can't get out of this situation he's in. Where is Fighthype?Comment

I've mentioned this in another thread and so again in this one, I could give a f u c k about Rigondeaux at this point.
This idiot is blessed with the winning lottery ticket in being a champion and refuses to cash it in by sitting on the sidelines with this aura of self entitlement. You know how many fighter's today that wish they had the opportunity this fool has but will never get this shot or given the time of day?
And to be brutally honest, I'm amazed how many poster's in this thread is defending this s h i t and siting such baseless points to why he should be sitting on the sidelines and not getting ANY MONEY as supposed to what he thinks he should be getting based on his management team.
I mean really people.Comment

I was just going to post roughly 300k a fight but you beat me to it. That really isn't anything special at all and there's usually more things involved to consider as well, which again, none of us know the details.Originally posted by THE REED™Make that 1.2 Million after taxes, and not after you have to pay trainer and any other expenses. He's looking at 300k a fight.Comment
