I hate when people say Marg was ruined by Pac. By that logic Cotto was also ruined by Pac. Cotto was also beaten badly by both Marg and Pac. If Marg had a bad eye then Cotto also had bad swollen skin.

Cotto did take beatings from Margarito and Pacquaio. He did more to survive against Pacquaio by basically mentally quitting after 4 or 5 rounds. He ran around and stayed in until the 12th. Margarito got his orbital bone crushed and took a much worse beating by continuing to come forward.

Plus Cotto was an active boxer and had come back to win a world title. He'd somewhat regrouped. Margarito had been out a year.

Cotto got his face shredded by plaster, which is even worse, and it now swells and bruises even when barely touched. And even under these circumstances Margarito barely damaged his face in the second fight after landing repeated uppercuts.

Marg's punches simply didn't have anywhere close the same effect it had in the first fight.
