But did he vacate cause other guy was mando, say his body is not ready for 175, he'll fight at 169?

It would be pretty comical if he missed weight after saying that. Really would be no defending that statement.

It would shift from that to some different reason. Not the right time it needs to marinate a bit probably being the one of choice.

It's unusual alright. It's cause he fought Rubio who was WBC interim, and the WBC wants to be in the GGG business.

Yes, but what would force Cotto defend the title if Canelo misses weight?

Again, if you forfeit the belt cause you're too small for the weightclass you get stripped. Same as vacating and moving down in weight. If you're not a MW, you can not be The MW champ. How about some examples, that Dariusz thing was was off? Some champs that vacated to avoid #1 contender, declared themselves too small the division and went down to lower division +1lb

Money, I doubt Miguel wants to miss out on that big payday. I'm not sure if it's even possible but I'm sure the wbc could be convinced to not award Canelo the title, even if he wins, if he misses weight. In that case cotto would get paid and keep his title even if he lost.

This is typical. When a challenger misses weight, the champion has the right to refuse the defense of his title, and still have the fight.

Yeah but Canelo would have to miss the contract weight by 5lbs+ before the belt is not on the line

Yeah, the only weird thing about this situation is that even if he misses weight, he'd probably still be within the 160 mw limit. It's very odd. Can you imagine the wbc saying, "sorry you can't fight for a mw belt because you weighed in at 157" lol. Somehow I think the wbc is corrupt enough to do that even Canelo would be within the mw limit.
