Golovkin holds all the cards....we all know that the title is gonna be sorted after the cotto fight ....who ever wins if they don't fight there mandatory they lose there title and get stripped then golovkin will have the belt....this hurts canelo and cotto more because they will have to drop down to another division and carry on don there......there's a famous quote by Roberto Duran ( the life of a boxer is to fight for world titles.)..now let's just assume that thee was no cotto or canelo around for triple GGG. ) what would he do ? He would do exactly what he is doing now.....when you hold all the belts you hold all the strings and for me I would rather have 2 or 3 million pound a fight and do it the right way than force myself down to weight that could make me be lose.....sooner or later canelo will really have no choice but to face him especially if he really can't make the weight.....every boxer when they start the road to professional career wants to be champion of the world...why should it be different for golovkin.....it's not because of him he is not getting ATGs in the ring....I think by the end of next year the fight will be fixed if canelo makes it through cotto

This is a terrible strategy by K2 and team GGG. The main complaint of GGG is that he fights nobodies, his resume is weak. K2 and team GGG are doing nothing to change that. So lets say Cotto/Canelo vacates, GGG picks up the title, beats Tureano Johnson and beats the winner of Lee/Saunders. People will still say his resume is weak. None of those fighters do anything to stem that criticism. So now he's sitting there as the unified champion. Who does he fight next? This path to gather all the belts does nothing to make GGG great. If Cotto/Canelo vacates K2 and team GGG needs to come up with another strategy because Johnson, Saunders/Lee is not the path to greatness. And again, after Johnson, Lee/Saunders, who does he fight next?

Personally I don't think Canelo fights GGG for at least 2 more years. GGG is already 33. Time isn't on GGG's side. No way Canelo fights this dude while he's still in his prime.

I already think GGG is past the apex of his prime. But it might be a slow tailing off as nobody has put a beating on him yet - not even been down and he obviously looks after himself.
I think Canelo could gain a false level of confidence if he takes Cotto out early - so that scenario would diminish interest in a rematch and favor Canelo (and DLH) stepping up.

Yes but Canelo's remaining time at 155 probably has an even shorter timespan than GGG's prime.

I have never one time heard golovkin talk anything about making or the earning massive amounts of dollars for his fights...he has always said he wants all the belts he is ready for anybody and he wants to make big drama show for his fans....yes he does hold all the cards....when you have all the belts they will gave to go through you to win any title....I couldn't give a **** if golovkin has to wait for canelo to man up......I know golovkin is waiting now for them so again it's not down to him making blockades for a big fight....you need to look across at the other corner to see who is preventing a golovkin canelo fight.......I would much rather be a fighter who is feared and avoided than having to sacrifice and meeting a catchweight in a division where I have every right to weigh 160 ....after canelo and cotto I think the days of the mega earners of 30 million is gonna end for a while if that makes boxing more competitive and kills of the divas then I'm all for it
