i expect that they'd accept 157. 155 is too severe

He should wait for the winner of Canelo Cotto to either decide to fight him at 160 or to vacate, I hope the WBC really enforce that 15 day rule, if the winner refuses to fight GGG, who's the mandatory, at 160 then he should be stripped because u can't force a mandatory to fight at a catchweight, if he's stripped then GGG should become the champion and then he can choose to fight the winner in a non title bout at whatever catchweight or not, this would be his best option.

The funny thing about the 155 CW is Canelo would be just as drained by the time this fight would happen , I doubt he'd fight Golovkin after Cotto anyway

Canelo is huge. I don't understand his refusal to fight at a full 160.

With the HBO deal, he can decline possible Canelo fight at 155lbs and still recoup the lost income in his next few fights.

With all the belts he has now, I do not think he is in a desperate situation to allow a weight limit too far below the limit.

GGG said he'd go down to 154 for Floyd. Alvarez isn't Mayweather but that would still be a huge purse, the highest in the sport available to Golovkin at this point. Why wouldn't he go down in weight for that?

Seems to me like he'd be shooting himself in the foot if he prefers to pick up a vacated belt and continue getting 97k PPV buys instead.
i dont think so, its all talk by his promoter. but if that opportunity comes he will, too much money and exposure to lose

Who knows? Either he takes one massive payday at a disadvantage or picks up the belt without a fight.

The advantage of the latter option is that everything will have to go through him subsequently and he will be guaranteed a favorable split when Canelo eventually and inevitably grows out of his 155 division.

He'll probably object to the catchweight get the belt for free n the fight at a catchweight without exposing the belt. There's a lot of money in that fight n much more to come if he wins.

It would be a massive payday, that's for sure.
