Yea in theory he can. He's gonna have to win the big fights too doe. I definitely think Canelo has the ability to become the #1 PPV guy if he wins those big fights. Idk about him becoming as well respected as Floyd or Manny or have as many successes in different weight divisions (unless he's trying to make a 155lb division for real & maybe a 156lb division after that).

Eclipse Mayweather? It's very rare when a son can eclipse his father.

He could, key being "COULD". First move would be replacing Reynoso with someone who would push him and wouldn't just be happy because he's training Canelo. A guy like Canelo needs someone to push him, look at Chavez Jr...got too comfortable being a name and it all derailed on him. We don't know how Canelo handles moving up later on in his career. We've seen tons of boxers with the ability to do great things get derailed by external factors.

Fraud sonning Canelo? n**** please. Fraud won a boring 12 round decision. Canelo got a good sparring match workout that night.

            Nothing more nothing less.

Oh boy. Now I'm really worried for Canelo. It's Usually right after a fighter receives an endorsement from this cross dresser, that they implode. So if Oscar is backing Canelo, the smart money is on Cotto. Find me one prediction Oscar ever made about a fight that came true. I'll wait. It might be a long one.

Canelo has faced-Floyd-Trout-Lara -kirkland 4 big names

Canelo has faced the best available at 154lbs and deserves credit even the loss to Floyd showed Canelo could step it up. Canelo does not need little g for anything unless it;s at 154lbs only. Flame top mex isn't scared of anyone. Now fighting Cotto proves that Canelo has cactus balls and America courage(dad was white truck driver who drank too much tequila)

Unless he beats Floyd he can never get to that level given Floyd whitewashed him.
That's just plain ******. first of all ward at 168? ward cant even make 168 anymore. Also kovalev? haha that's just borderline ******ed. Canelo's fatass would be a midget at smw let alone Lhw. Lemme guess those guys all move up several divisions so you think canelo can? News flash they all moved up from divisions they didn't even belong and stopped at their natural weight and size divisions

Canelo will never eclipse Floyd or Pac simply because he isn't a great fighter. I like him and he's a good fighter but the "it factor" is the marketing machine promoting him and when it comes to him fighting the elite, they can't rely on cheating the scales forever..

Even if he were as talented a fighter as Floyd or Manny, Canelo won't come close to either one of them in the broader U.S. market (i.e, beyond Texas and California) unless he at least attempts to communicate in English.

Though Manny doesn't speak great English, he at least makes an effort...and that has certainly helped.

And people respect the fact that Floyd overcame his own background -- with a non-English speaking father and uncle -- to become the masteful sh&t-talker that he is today.
