Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya expects Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) to continue his fast rise as a superstar in the sport.

Canelo is scheduled to fight WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs), at a catch-weight of 155-pounds, on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The bout will headline an HBO Pay-Per-View event.

As a superstar and face of the sport, yes he could.

In terms of status, I think if Canelo beats GGG, Ward @ 168 and Kovalev @ 175 I think its fair to say he could get to the same level as Manny.

Unless he beats Floyd he can never get to that level given Floyd whitewashed him.

Felix Verdejo will be bigger than Canelo, he already packs everywhere he fights by himself, if he keep winning to better opponents by the age of 25 he will bigger than Canelo.

I really think that on the elite level he is average, but with good marketing and good country to born in.

Whos to say he gets pass Cotto, or has and extremely hard time!! Its a 50 50 fight, get pass Cotto, then think about your future, superstardom etc etc...
