SOG vs Krusher is my personal May-Pac.....this is the one I wanna see....this is a genuine 50-50 fight as of now
Agree. Better fight than May Pac, both undefeated, more room for surprise and the horse hasn't been beaten to death.

    • Such a great fight. I'm not the least bit comfortable picking a winner right now.

      • GGG fan here , If ward goes ahead and fight the Krusher then i dont mind who he fights in his 2 up and coming fights as he takes on a HUGH challange which GGG yet to do (challange the #1 guy a wc above you) , BUT if the Krusher fight doesnt happen Ward should be crucified to death by anyone here ! thats all.
GGG die hard fans should give Ward props for going the Kovalev road and bash him on the way there its really lame. Ward vs Kov is a MEGA fight for me (as well as was Ward vs GGG) and i would enjoy watching two elite fighters going at it.

If ward wants to waste his tune ups for kovalev on do nothing fights let him do it as long as he enters the ring in 2016 with Kovalev.

        • **** Nation: This is Ward's first step towards fighting another nobody in another 12-18 months.

          • I believe it when i see it. One thing is clear, Kovalev would be ready right now.

Ward, after fighting nobody in 3 years, after having a tuneup in Paul Smith needs another 12 months of undersized cabdriver tuneups to be ready for Kovalev?

I mean he already fought mr tuneup Paul Smith, then got a couple bums rejected by NSAC and now faces the next bum that got rejected once and now magically is allowed to be slaughtered.

Ward is a proven liar, so i wouldnt hold my breath that he fights Kovalev.

I see him suing Duva, Roc Nation and HBO first, or have a strange injury suddenly.

Even if Ward had agreed to fight Krusher for his minimum fee, and Kovalev had agreed to a 50/50 split, that's still a combined purse of $4million.

The combined purse for GGG/Lemieux was $3.5million, and K2 barely managed to cover their ass with the PPV sales.

GGG is better known than Kovalev, and Lemieux has more fans than Ward. But I guess Kovalev/Ward could be sold to the fans as a more even and competitive match-up than GGG/Lemieux, so it might sell more PPV tickets.

But if Ward wants significantly more than his minimum for Kovalev, which I think he would, and Kovalev wants at least as much as Ward, which he would be entitled to expect, then that kills the fight, imo.
Actually Kovalev made $3.2mill and Pascal made $2.7mill. I think HBO chips in $3mill and the rest is generated from the gate and Canadian ppv. With Lemieux/Golovkin I think Lemieux took the whole Canadian ppv. The numbers that get reported are lower than actual, maybe because NY takes a big bite out of the purses, also foreign fighters get hit even higher from federal taxes.

Ward's history shows he's risk adverse and greedy. SI reported how HBO was chipping in more money for Ward/Rodriguez and Ward was simply taking all of it saying Rodriguez didn't earn it. Watch Andre fight complete no hopers while Kovalev continues to wreck the best available contenders then for Andre to say he's the A-side and walks away from the fight when he can't get some outrageous number.

Ward's the one on record for ducking Bute and Stevenson. He's also the one who just had an opponent rejected because it was such a mismatch....

I didn't know Kovalev made so much from Pascal. That makes it even less likely that he would fight Ward for whatever is left in the pot after Andre's requirements are met.

Kovalev would be the defending champion, with 3 belts on the line. Ward brings nothing except a reputation among hard-core fans and a very iffy P4P No1 rating from a couple of sources.

The only chance I see for this fight happening is if Duva can get some Russian money behind it. Maybe that's what she's been up to in Moscow the past few weeks.

Even then, I'm doubtful, because I don't believe Ward himself actually wants it. The fact that he was still negotiating his deal with HBO till just 3 weeks before the proposed date for his first fight is not a good sign.
