A paper champ..... someone who was elevated, or won a vacant belt ..... or someone who PREFERRED to wait for a champion to be stripped rather than give him a reasonable catchweight and fight him.

Jumping on an opportunity is one thing, PREFERRING to take the easy way out is another..... especially if that particular fighter stated for years that he could do it.

Why take the easy way out ?

Everyone else would kill for a Cotto/Canelo fight.

      Ward didn't want to fight.
Otherwise he would've sent a legit offer after he finished these tune ups he needs so bad.
HBO were DELIGHTED to accept that deal.....

      feeling or showing great pleasure.

      Know why ?

Because Kovalev actually wants to fight Ward

Once again..... A 25 min refusal = THEY DIDN'T EVEN READ THE OFFER !

Golovkin's event, from a marketability perspective, flopped.

Andre Ward, with the promotion for this coming Cotto-Canelo fight and the moves that are likely to be made by RocNation, is likely to emerge with MGM Resorts interested in him and the residual goodwill that is likely to come from performing marvelously in front of a sizable PPV audience.

The terms for the Ward-Golovkin offer were rather simple from what I read; both guys take an interim fight, before facing off on PPV in early 2016; to try and spin that otherwise now is foolish.

The Cotto-Alvarez event still needs to happen, but Golovkin is now up ****'s creek without a viable option available to him.

Team Golovkin no longer have any ground to stand on in demanding much of anything, tbh.
        "negotiating posture" lol holy sheeeeit.
Ward sent an offer for a fight he wasn't even ready for when the other fighter already had a fight lined up.
Even tried to get the money split agreed to for a fight that wouldn't take place for at least a year lol.

Why didn't Ward send an offer to fight when he had his tune ups finished, if he was still going to be at 168?
This is a horse **** deal.
No competent manager/promoter/advisor would have their fighter sign that "deal".
There's no way you really think it's a legit offer. You couldn't have lived this long being that ******.
Keep on talking bull**** and let everyone know how dumb you are.
        lol "negotiating posture"

Doesn't take long to look at that "offer" and realize it's horse ****.
Where's the news that Ward and Kovalev have signed a deal to fight?

How the **** would you know if it was legit or not ?

Oi.... it was legit enough for Kovalev 10-12 months out.

It was legit enough for Duva 10-12 months out.

And guess what..... it was legit enough for HBO 10-12 months out.

Why did HBO regard it legitimate for Kovalev but not Golovkin..... hmmm.

Oh right, because Kovalev actually wanted to fight Ward, gotcha

                Chill, Ward has moved on.

You clearly know nothing about this sport.

Has Ward and Kovalev signed it yet? Ward signed a 3 fight deal with HBO for 3 fights at LHW. Ward's next tune up is at "LHW" lol.
No mention of any contract being signed by Ward to fight Kovalev, only that this is a "first step" towards fighting Kovalev lol.

GGG had to sign and agree to the 50/50 split right now for a fight sometime next year/18 months. GGG already had a fight lined up and Ward was going to fight tune ups(above 168lbs), just like he's doing now.
Kovalev already has a fight lined up. Ward is fighting tune ups(above 168lbs).
Have either one of them signed a contract already to fight each other next year/18 months?
Have they already agreed to the money split for a fight in a year/18 months?

No, they haven't. They will have to sign a legit contract when it's time for Ward to fight Kovalev. After Ward is finished with his tune ups.

                    • cool!!...after being on the shelf for so long, you just can't run to a monster like Krusher....gotta walk slowly...after this one, hopefully it's Pascal or the guy I prefer, Fonfara!!

SOG vs Krusher is my personal May-Pac.....this is the one I wanna see....this is a genuine 50-50 fight as of now
