Golovkin's event, from a marketability perspective, flopped.
Andre Ward, with the promotion for this coming Cotto-Canelo fight and the moves that are likely to be made by RocNation, is likely to emerge with MGM Resorts interested in him and the residual goodwill that is likely to come from performing marvelously in front of a sizable PPV audience.
The terms for the Ward-Golovkin offer were rather simple from what I read; both guys take an interim fight, before facing off on PPV in early 2016; to try and spin that otherwise now is foolish.
The Cotto-Alvarez event still needs to happen, but Golovkin is now up ****'s creek without a viable option available to him.
Team Golovkin no longer have any ground to stand on in demanding much of anything, tbh.
