Why didn't Ward send the offer after he fought his tune ups, if he was still going to be at 168? It was going to be the same amount of time because Ward needs his tune ups. Why did he send an offer when he wasn't ready to fight and Golovkin already had a fight lined up?
He had to get that 50/50 split agreed to now for a fight sometime in the next year/18 months when GGG will be worth more money and Ward is coming off tune ups and probably can't make 168.

Andre Ward, with the promotion for this coming Cotto-Canelo fight and the moves that are likely to be made by RocNation, is likely to emerge with MGM Resorts interested in him and the residual goodwill that is likely to come from performing marvelously in front of a sizable PPV audience.

Golovkin was handed the WBA title, Golovkin is about to be handed the WBC title, and Golovkin was only able to get Lemieux (IBF #8 challenger at the time of vacant title fight) in his first title defense because Golden Boy saw that Lemieux already had a mandatory defense already due [in a fight that he was likely going to lose anyway].

The man's been a professional fighter for a decade now and all he's got on his resume that's maybe worth anything is "almost man" Martin Murray, Daniel Geale, and David Lemieux.

The middleweight division has been lacking, for some time now; rather than go the Anderson Silva route (taking on fights out of the weight class while some actual title challenger can be secured for his weight class), Golovkin seems more than happy to wallow away his career in a soft division. If only Abel Sanchez could've kept his mouth shut.

If said Cotto fight was available across all of the cable systems, the numbers would've likely been comparable to whatever the buyrate was for his next PPV, which was available across everything, further neutering the comparative draw point.

Vs Andy Lee, Quillin looked tentative , scared to let his hands go and gave me the impression of a deer in headlights . Also looked real iffy against Rosado , once Rosado hit him clean . Had Rosado ever learned to close a fighter once he has them hurt he'd be a champion by now , and would have took Quillins belt that night . IMO nobody at 160 has anything for GGG at all , as ive maintained that once he beat Murray

Quillin was fine, early in the fight. Once the rounds started to stack up, and it becomes clearer that the guy in front of him isn't going to just fold up, something flips in Quillin's mind and he starts to shell up more and more, until he's seemingly just hanging on to close out the fight. No idea why, but that's Quillin.

People overlook this, for whatever reason, but Rosado was giving Golovkin that work during their fight, especially once he got over the spooks. Rosado's failing was simply that his skin didn't hold up.

Rosado laid out a pretty good rough sketch of the blueprint to handle Golovkin; good jab, set your feet for shots, utilize angles, press the action in spots, stay defensive responsible, etc. You add that Golovkin has proven himself to not be a concussive puncher at 160 (notice how you've never seen Golovkin simply lay out anyone since he's been on HBO, with all of these KOs occurring with either the opponent on the feet and not wanting to fight anymore, or simply having the fight stopped on the stool) and it's no wonder why they've been so careful with the actual matchmaking.

If Ward wasn't ready to fight next, why agree to the split right now?
Why didn't Ward just fight his tune ups and then send a legit offer to fight GGG at 168, if that's where he was going to be next year?
