I don't think asking a fighter to work 10-20% harder to secure close rounds is asking him to change their style.
To me it's always been just words of advice from fans trying to look out for the guy.
What they're saying is that: yes, your style if highly effective... but had you put a stamp on things you would have come out the winner in some fights.

I like Lara but he lost that fight against Saul. No WAY as fast and accurate as you should be, should u land the same amount of punches as the much slower guy. And landing only 22% of your bread ad butter punch is unacceptable. He ran. He didn't even try and engage. Plus I really think those body blows were hurting him. There was one part where it looked like he was trying to run up his leg and sit on his shoulders???

Lara and others who fight in his style have tried to carry over the amateur Olympic style of boxing into the pros and that is not what people want to see. It's boring and one dimensional. In pro boxing no one wants to see a points win. He doesn't need to change his boring style, but he might want to mix in some offense and take a chance.

He doesn't have to change his style but I sure as heck won't be watching him.
Haymon needs to stop wasting his investors money on these boring fighters though, no one will ever care about Elislandry Lara, except for Floys fans who pretend to enjoy Lara because, "he slick yo."

When your "style" makes you go 12 rounds with delvin Rodriguez, you know there's something wrong.
