There are about 50 LHWs that would be better options than this. It's not uncommon to fight a smaller guy to get acclimated to the weight (ie Donaire/Darchinyan 2, Bradley/Casamayor), but at least those were veteran fighters that could protect themselves and had been at the world class level. And he's already fought Paul Smith. He must've not liked how he felt or wasn't taking the punches well.

honestly im starting to wonder if roc nation can land him big fights i find it hard to believe ward is scared of anything

Fights like this are bad for the sport. A fight like this looks bad on HBO especially since it would have been on a huge PPV event. These mismatches need to stop, Quillin/Zerafa is a perfect example of why.

me either all promotions are guilty of it as well. ggg was even guilty of it no promotion is excluded from it. gbp pretends to be but when u look closer u realize underneath the surface most of their fighters are fighting ridiculous mismatches. hopefully the commissions keeps this up but we all know they wont

four fight novice dmitry bivol is actually taking on a tougher challenge in his next fight than andre ward apparently wants. at the very least ward should be looking at one of stevenson or kovalev's victims, although if i was the match maker i'd go for karo murat (x2 title challenger at the weight, ibf ranked, coming off a decent win). personally i don't think there's anything wrong with ward physically, he just wants money for nothing

Can we get the 2nd in the Paul Smith trilogy then?

The first one was a ding-dong light-heavyweight battle: a top pound-4-pound fighter and domestic level career middleweight in fight that will echo down the ages.

I am glad this has happened. I know it is boxing and a dangerous sport. But essentially what Ward is trying to do here is get paid his full time wage after spending the vast majority of his working day having a sh.it and playing candy crush on his phone. Good luck to you if you can get away for it. But you're pissing on everyone else.

So, what now? He cant get a better opponent since the cotto-canelo is only month away. Ward will find some other Rogan Murduck or even ****tier opponent

it shouldn't feature higher on the bill than miura-vargas or caballero-haskins, that would be an insult
