The Cotto/Canelo fight is just 1 month away. Wait for the winner and put the pressure. That's what I advise he does.
There is no chance in hell that Golovkin is going to sit around for SEVEN MONTHS waiting for the Cotto - Canelo winner. He could fight Johnson in Feb and fight the WBC champ the weekend after with no problem at all. A three month break from Feb to May would be normal for Golovkin who is used to fighting four times per year.

Or maybe he should follow Ward's lead and look for a rookie fighter from a lower weight class in Australia and force him to move up to MW for a fight.

Hold on, isn't Ward fighting on the undercard of Cotto - Canelo against a guy with 4 loses and not even 20 victories!? Hahaha

i don't think k2 will do anything until at least 15 days after the cotto-canelo result. as someone mentioned above, they don't want a wilder-povetkin situation

That would be a serious beating. I don't have a problem with him staying active since there's no way Cotto or Alvarez would want to fight when Golovkin will want to next, but I'd rather he try and get the Lee/Saunders winner in the ring.

Beating Johnson would be preemptive defense of a soon-to-be mandatory, so it's not a huge problem.

A glorified sparring session that gets GGG some heavy spending money and keeps him busy makes sense for his team. There is always an injury risk. Feels too close to the next fight but again, its Johnson.

Besides, while I think Canelo wins, if he loses, GGG isn't fighting on Cinco de Mayo weekend. Canelo will be in his comeback or we will have cotto/Floyd 2 at the new MGM.

Barcham is just anti Haymon for whatever reasons. He could care less about the real impediments to a fight.
