Millions of viewers every week? We've had maybe 10 cards this entire year that have reached 1M. Highest paid boxer is American, sure, but it's anomaly, as the next highest earning American boxer isn't in the top 250. PPV records, sure, once again another anomaly, who is the last American boxer outside of Mayweather to draw even 300K PPV buys as the A-side?
The only reason boxing still has a pulse in my country is because of our diversity (Mexican-American populations supports boxing) and just due to our overall strong sports culture.Comment

10 cards? Lol you've got to be joking. Off the top of my head:Millions of viewers every week? We've had maybe 10 cards this entire year that have reached 1M. Mayweather vs Pacquiao
Klitschko vs Jennings
GGG vs Munroe
Matthysse vs Provodnikov
Wilder vs Duhuapaus
Wilder vs Stiverne
Broner vs Porter
Crawford vs Dulorme
Khan vs Algieri
Thurman vs Guerrero
Canelo vs Kirkland
Garcia vs Malignaggi
Thurman vs Collazo
Mares vs Santa Cruz
And I'm sure there's more + some of these cards pulled in 2million+. we still have some big fights coming up on HBO and probably PBC too before the end of the year.
Why does it matter if it's the A-side? and why does it matter if it's an american? You said boxing was dead in your country and that's just massive BS. Now you're trying to change the goalpost.Comment

You named 14 fights, 12 of those have done 1M. I was off by 2.10 cards? Lol you've got to be joking. Off the top of my head:

Always funny arguing with a limey about boxing's popularity in America. Mother ****er I live in America. I know better than you.

Yeah you said 10, so you were 4 off. All of those fights did 1M or 1M+ and I'm sure there are fights out there I've forgotten.
We're not discussing popularity - You said it was dead in america. how can it be dead with these numbers?

No. Khan-Algieri and Thurman-Collazo didn't do 1M. Maybe they peaked at that number, but they didn't average that number. Also, your population quip works against you in this argument. Isn't 1M viewers in a sports hungry country of 300M really pathetic?
Just for comparison's sake, Frampton-Avalos did 2M in the UK. A bum fight in a nation of 64M did 2M viewers. 2M viewers in America (300M+ pop.) for boxing is a reason for celebration. Boxing is #4 in the UK. Boxing doesn't make the top 10 in the US.Comment

Yes and it was on terrestrial TV. Free for all. Boxing is not #4 in the UK - Who told you that? It probably goes something like this:No. Khan-Algieri and Thurman-Collazo didn't do 1M. Which 9 sports are above boxing in the US? I saw something like MLS are only drawing a couple hundred k per game for example:
MLS ratings are up. Hooray! Sort of. There’s no secret most American footy fans prefer to get our kicks on the wrong side of the road, so to speak, with EPL and Champions League ratings regularly exceeding that of the homespun soccer presentation of Major League Soccer. The biggest problem for MLS over the last, Read more...Last edited by LacedUp; 10-16-2015, 02:05 AM.Comment
