Beating Cotto or Canelo would be better. They are much bigger names with casual fans than Ward.

GGG is a star no doubt, but he needs to keep fighting names to stay on ppv.

Cotto and his fans see Ward as their savior

First off, GGG should fight Ward some day.

But when he wants to, not so Cotto/Canelo can have free reign over MW (a ****ing 155 version).

The truth is, when GGG was looking for big names, they considered Ward. Ward was not able to do it. Both sides have said this.

When Ward was ready, GGG had a PPV and is mandated to fight Cotto/Canelo winner.

Not only that, Lee has publically stated he wants to fight GGG.

GGG gas shot at doing something done only twice since 4 major belt era.

I don't care what you say, that's much bigger than fighting Ward.

          Stop pretending it's not.

Turning down that Ward fight was much more than just Lemieux.

Prob is GGG has all but maxed out HBO. HBO is right to test the waters. If it does 200,000 or more. GGG is clearly ready.

and this just gives more proof that he knows unifying all titles is not excuse to not get the ward fight out of the way for the people

if ward does moves to 175, and that seems to be the case, the fight never happens imo even if ward stays active and undefeated
WBC mandated... I think that's what your getting at. Is that right?
Not only is the fight mandated, but Lee is talking GGG fight two.

So I don't get your logic.

andrade, lara, and jermal charlo would be all good fights for GGG if they move up like SRL, hearns, and duran....they dont have to stay at the weight so dont make that excuse
          Agree. Mostly.

I think beating Canelo would be huge.

Being undisputed MW champ would mean fighters are begging GGG for fight.

Turning down that Ward fight was much more than just Lemieux. It's about the entire MW unification.

In context, the Ward fight only hurts GGG.

He beats Ward, he gives Cotto/Canelo another excuse to duck him.

he's actually number 1 on a lot of list i've seen recently..wtbs i think GGG wipes the floor with ward..he's too sudden
I think Ring put him at 2. But that was against the reasons they took him off. I think that's a Goldenboy move, likely did to keep pressure on the Ward fight and off GGG versus Canelo.

Ring has both Cotto and Canelo ranked at MW. Which makes this whole they are too small thing ******.

No he does. But Cotto can't hide behind Ward forever.

If Cotto beats Canelo--which he won't, but he has to fight GGG, vacate, or they strip him.

Right. Lemieux is a ranked MW.

Besides, Wards contract wasn't even to fight instead of Lemieux, or even after Lemieux.

Turning down that Ward fight was much more than just Lemieux. It was about Cityo/Canelo, and unification.

Even if Golovkin/Lemieux does over 400k buys, they won't push Golovkin vs the winner on Tureano Johnson/Eamon O'Kane on ppv. They could take that fight to South Korea or Khazakstan and it'd be on HBO at a early evening time. Also I see the potential Andy Lee fight heading to London so Golovkin can break into that market like he did NY & LA, and that wouldn't be a US ppv.

If Golovkin becomes a major ppv star after Alvarez, Ward would jump back to 168 w/o hesitation.

At 33, I don't think so. He is younger than B-Hop when he unified, and set his record.

GGG got a late start at being a star, but he also hasn't taken a lot of punishment.

Ward would probably do it now. He is desperate for a big money fight, and he doesn't want it against a guy his own size.

I do see the Lee fight happen, because Lee seems to want it.

It all depends if Cotto/Canelo winner really vacates the WBC belt. If one of them does, then the Lee fight could conceivably happen next.
