i don't think that would be possible for a fighter based in america. look at ward's situation right now: hbo won't let him fight unless he signs a multiple fight contract

If he sells 400k or something unexpected like that, I could see them trying to make him an exclusive PPV fighter, or at least against guys they wouldn't consider right now.

if he does over 350k and Canelo wins, I think the only time GGG doesn't fight on PPV is when he does his annual trip to Monaco.

2 ppv fights and 1 regular HBO fight in a year would be great.

thats just the cancer that hbo is..they are greedy..and lets all remember..al haymon didnt leave hbo..the kicked him off and he adjusted...FMjr was free agent, but that was money they couldnt allow showtime to get...maybe they feel that way about GGG too, but i dont think GGG has the balls to pull a floyd and become his own man..

he likes the level of protection hbo provides imo...they dont have to hear names like lara or w/e

it's just the nature of the game. haymon just blocked beterbiev-kovalev because he doesn't want his guys fighting on a rival network. there needs to be a rule prohibiting exclusive contracts or fighters need to unionise or something

Kovalev used to fight on FS1 (or was it NBCSN?) networks don't mean anything but BET isn't even a sports channel whereas FS1 and NBCSN are lol.

Being on BET means you're marketing to a certain demographic to get their following. I mean, who the **** even watches BET since Rap City stopped?

Haymon would never allow Golovkin to fight on PBC without having a clause in the contract giving Haymon options for a number of future fights. I cannot remember who it was, but one boxer turned down a fight against a Haymon fighter exactly for that reason. He could not get the fight without giving up rights to future fights which he refused to do.

I disagree. I don't think its viable for a non-147lb guy to be exclusively a PPV guy at this point. There jut isn't THAT much depth & fame in most divisions.

I like K2's outlook. This ultimately was a win/win situation with making this fight a PPV fight. He's one of if not the most popular non-PPV fighter right now. It was time to make the jump & this fight will allow for a base to be built from with reasonable expectations. No one is expecting 1M buys. This is a 200k-400k buy fight. And idk that it'd even be a L if he does less than 200k really, but it'd definitely be a huge W if he can exceed expectations.

Im betting HBO regrets not having Lemiuex-ndam on their network. Coulda worked out better for them instead of not trying to compete with COward. It coulda actually helped him too. He could of blamed the low ratings on that
