Good points but there will be a tremendous amount of pressure for the winner of the Cotto-Canelo winner to fight GGG, and the potential for incredible backlash if they don't. Regardless if GGG sells 200k, 300k, or 350k for his PPV he will come out of it as a bigger star that is on the rise. He already is the most talked about boxer among boxing fans and that is only going to grow. There is a good chance that by the time canelo or cotto is ready to fight again, GGG will have 3 belts in the division with a WBC mandatory due (which has already been delayed) against canelo/cotto. I know the WBC changes their rules and makes exceptions all the time, but they have been strong about GGG being next for cotto/canelo and I think they backed themselves into a corner and could be easily sued by K2/Golovkin if they allow another exception.
Historically, it would look really bad if Cotto/Canelo duck GGG with a chance to be the undisputed champion of the division with all 4 major belts (5 if you include GGG's IBO belt) and the fan backlash would be intense.
I also think that either guy could possibly make more money against GGG than against each other in a rematch. GGG may be willing to take a lower split of the revenue.
Things are going to be very interesting in the next few months.Comment

Responding to none sense never getting tiring
Hopkins was very fortunate to have superstar welterweights that eventually came up to fight him. He's also a genetic freak thay was able to fight at a very high level well into his 40s. Doubt GGG will have those type of stars line up for him. So if he wants to waste what's left of his prime years fighting C level opponents for meaningless paper trinkets, more power to him.
And yes I do value those belts for two reasons.
First, it's only been done twice since they've had the four major belts
Two, I believe that just about anyone can be coerced into fighting GGG once he has those belts and the level of exposure they give him.
I believe he can beat Ward, but doing so now would be at the detriment of his other goals. Beating Ward gives other fighters more reason to duck GGG, not less.
Lastly, Team GGG has built him into potential superstar, I trust them. They've shown that they know what they are doing.
I can't say the same for many others.
Come on man, look in the mirror.
Crack me up, acting like you don't repeate the same ****e. In fact if you all didn't repeate the same ****e, I wouldn't need to.

So much so that they put their foot down on whether Cotto/Canelo could be fought over MW title. They had to get a step aside. Team GGG gave one under the premise that the winner faces them.
If either back out of that, I doubt they are so nice the second time around.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
And Team GGG have said publically that they won't take another step aside, and won't take a catch weight.
Frankly I hope they stay steady on both things. Because it's time to do away with catch weight championship boughts.

Too bad that pesky mandatory has been established.
No reason to believe that GGG has a few good years left. He is clearly a genetic freak himself. Fighting Canelo will be a good one. If the red headed Goldenboy doesn't vacate.

You are correct. I'm usually cynical about sanctioning bodies doing the right thing, but they've really been adamant about this.

David Lemieux: was KO'd by career journeyman and fringe contender Rubio. Was outpointed by a washed up career journeyman Alcine, who ****** in his prime.
Andy Lee: KO'd by career joke Chavez Jr. Was also KO'd by career journeyman and fringe contender Brian Vera.
Miguel Cotto: Natural jr middleweight who was considered washed up 3yrs ago when he was beaten by Floyd, yhen outclassed by Trout.
I've noticed with all this belt mumbo jumbo, nobody ever mentions names. When you put the names next to the belts. The only thing "epic" about GGG's unification run is the epic waste of time it is.Comment

Belts, belts, belts, belts, belts. Its like a bad song the radio keeps playing over and over and over again. Put some names next to those belts.

Nobody cares how many world titles Mayweather won, or how many divisions Pacquiao fought in..... it comes down to who you beat, and when.
Nothing else matters.Comment

Seriously what has boxing become? A guy who's 33 and his best fight so far is against some bum from Tasmania is putting his cheap name in the same sentence with hopkins..he's scared to death of ward and is only after rubbish fighters..he thinks fighting a c leveled fighter next will make him a better fighter..his only fans are casual fans because that bum hasn't had one proper opponent yet.Comment
