Well if you understand the principles of boxing styles make fights.....canelo had 2 reasons why he couldn't get to floyd...one is he was weight drained and was beaten before he stepped in the ring...second is canelo has no foot speed...and he couldn't get close to floyd.....mayweather knew this even before they got in the ring...when it comes to movement canelo is very limited .....now in regards to the cotto fight....it's a completely different fight again....cotto is old and is slower naturally than floyd...so canelo should catch up to him.....but canelo also takes punches so it's really toss up fight...I'm slightly leaning towards canelo because of age and lol think he will gradually bust cotto up......close fight though

And he gasses out because of it. He hasn't fought 154 in a long time, probably for a reason.

Cotto really only needs to get to second half of fight without losing more than 4 rounds. If he does, I give him a shot.

However, my guess is Cotto gets knocked out.

I hope not though, because Goldenboy and De La Hoya make me angry.

I think it's a shame that we do not see a lot of interviews / opinions from Duran and other legends.

Just about all of His he is over 170. But recently he has been going up.

For Trout he rehydrated to 172.

Canelo stepped inside the ring at 174.5 lbs against Alfredo Angulo.

And Kirkland he came in at 175.

Which is why it's arguable whether he can really even make 154 anymore. This will be Canelo’s fourth straight fight at middleweight 155 or above.

At this point it seems like Canelo should just stay at middleweight instead of creating a new division called the 155 pound division.

I'm mean, in you avi Canelo is clearly not a Jr.Mw or SWW. He is a MW sized fighter. So is Lara and Andrade.

The difference is only one of them will be MW champ who is mandated to fight GGG. And only Canelo (or De La Hoya is talking about him staying at 154).

It's clear why. By ou don't fight at 155 for four fights, win MW belt, vacate and then cut 21 pounds instead of 20, unless you are scared to face someone. No fighter drops a lineal title lightly.

That's why I hope Cotto wins. At least he'll retire instead of face GGG.

I wasn't comparing what Floyd did to Canelo with what Cotto can do to Canelo, I was commenting on Duran's comment about Caneo being the man and Floyd being nothing in his eyes, the comment just didn't make any sense since Floyd gave him a schooling.

Being weight drained is not an excuse especially in this case, Canelo wanted to fight Floyd in 2012 at 150, and u can find that out by a quick google search, Floyd fought him 1 year later at 152, Canelo had 10 weeks to lose the weight and he was an active fighter, it's not like he was coming off a layoff, he weighed in at 153.5 against Trout 4-5 months earlier anyways, and he's a young guy that wasn't forced to fight Floyd for the check if he knew he wasn't gonna be a 100%, he was already the lineal champion so he shouldn't have taken the fight unless he was sure he was going to win. If Canelo was drained then that's his problem, he didn't train hard enough or didn't lose the weight in a smart way, and this is nobody's fault except him, nobody forced him to sign the contract at 152.

An almost criminal case of weight draining is Dela Hoya vs Pacquiao, Dela Hoya had to come down 7 damn pounds to fight at a weight he hasn't fought at in 9 years, the man was almost dead before the fight and he couldn't even rehydrate, and u can use the weight here as an excuse because Dela Hoya was fighting for the paycheck, he was at the end of his career and wanted to cash out so he just complied cuz he didn't care about winning, but Cotto for example wasn't against Pacquiao, and it was only 2 pounds, so weight draining is not an excuse here.

Hopkins fought Dela Hoya at 156, a weight he never made before in his career, and he still KOed Dela Hoya, Porter also beat Broner at a weight he never made before. NO EXCUSES.

You have to respect Duran's opinion on boxing and for GBP's sake I hope he's right about this fight with Canelo and Cotto.

This coming weekend GGG is going to cremate Lemieux and Canelo will be the lone star for GBP. Soon GGG will take that strap too.
If Canelo loses to Cotto then GBP will need a lot of hard work to get back to where they were a few years ago.

Why doesn't Duran put himself on that list to beat Mayweather.
