They wanted to fight Froch, second best SMW with good chin and power in his hometown without any tune ups. If Ward was a superstar, this fight would have been already made.

Ward's career turned out the way it is because of his own doing. I honestly think when GGG started at HBO, he would've fought Ward at SMW because there wasn't a Cotto/Canelo fight for GGG in the horizon. And also there wasn't a lot of risk GGG had to sacrifice by losing to Ward. But remember GGG/Ward wasn't possible because of Ward's ongoing lawsuits with his promoter during that time.
When the Cotto/Canelo fight became possible for GGG, he had already build up his brand too. And of course it was obvious the Chavez/Froch was more financially beneficial for GGG that's why he was willing to move up and fight them.
You have to take into consideration GGG's team stopped pursuing the Chavez fight after he was derailed by Fanfora. The only thing you can take from this is he really does want a big name to his resume. I think it's evident after the GGG/Lemieux ppv, GGG will be the A-side to any fighters not name Cotto/Canelo. Remember that during all this time, Ward was not relevant because of his inactivity!
If Ward really wants GGG he's going to bow to their demands because he's really the B-side this time around. It's all his own doing...

It's simply because Golovkin and his team know it's a fight he can't win. That's the undiluted truth.
Ward's last fight was at 172. Gennady's last fight was at 160. Yeah he might make 3x as much money (which I actually don't think is true) fighting Ward, but at 8 lb higher than his normal weight class with no preparation, while Ward meanwhile is making his way to the LHW division. Try and think of a few fighters who moved up in weight for the biggest fight of their career and you'll quickly find a few examples of why it's a bad idea.
If we're talking about why Golovkin-Ward didn't happen in 2015, here's a hint: Ward's fought once in the last two years and it was a tune-up on BET. The timing isn't right for that fight to make $$$.
This is common sense.

If you're Golovkin, which of these two options sounds like the better fight for you?
- Move up 8 lb to fight a guy that can't sell out his hometown, one of the most frustratingly crafty defensive fighters around right now, and make $$, OR
- Establish yourself as a PPV attraction in the same weight class as the two fighters that will have 2015's second-biggest fight, with the obvious intention of fighting the winner for $$$$$$$ next year? Oh and make $$ as the A-side in your own event?
Again guys this is common ****ing sense.

even if money wasn't an issue and all boxers fought for free, it would still make sense for golovkin to settle business at middleweight before moving up. certain people are incapable of thinking objectively when it comes to certain fighters

Off the top
Just look at the splits for these fights, they were more about legacy than money considering the purse splits IMO.
Jones jr vs James Toney
Cotto vs Martinez
Kovalev vs Hopkins

It doesn't matter of Ward was a huge draw they stil, would have found an excuse not to make the fight or request particular advantages
Reality now, GGG the A-side, Ward either put up or shut up!
