That whole not a draw thing is an excuse to avoid him plain and simple ![/QUOTE]

Do you not see everyone in here said that GGG would've fought Ward during GGG's emergence in the U.S? Do you even know their timeline? Your answers are mere accusations than proof. Look at their activities during GGG's time on HBO, Ward was the commentator bro while GGG was knocking out people. The truth now is Ward will need to submit to Team GGG or no fight...

I think it's obvious that Cotto-Canelo is a more lucrative fight than Cotto-GGG, and I think most fans would argue it's the easier fight as well.

GGG was still establishing himself, it's possible GGG-Martinez would have been a big fight and Martinez may have made an equivalent purse . But he did the reward/risk calculation and guess what? He fought Cotto, the smaller guy who was moving up in weight.

People called Cotto and Martinez duckers and now I guess GGG a ducker as well, and they're idiots who would make the same decisions if they were the boxers risking their health in those situations.

Ward wasn't reluctant when he challenged Floyd at 160.

This right here. Two or three years ago a GGG-Ward fight would have made a lot of sense for GGG because, reward divided by risk would have been better than anything he was getting at the time. Three years later and Triple G is in Apple Watch commercials and my mom has heard of him, and guess what, GGG doesn't need a big name to establish himself anymore.

golovkin, martinez and cotto are all in the same division. ward is at 168 so it's an entirely different situation. not to mention that martinez had ample time to fight golovkin before cotto moved up. but my real grievance is with the wbc who made all of this mess possible

Same here Alverez is more hype than anything Cotto should be able to outbox him comfortably ..I unnderstand draw and all that, Martinez knew but he conceded to all of Cotto's demands just to get the fight..That's where I felt it was more about legacy than money for Martinez ..He could,of held out and negotiated some more but I really believe he wanted Cotto hell he offered Mayweather an 80/20 split ..Can't tell me that was more about money with him..

This too. Ward made statements like this because, reward divided by risk comes out to be a pretty nice number if you're fighting Floyd Mayweather. That calculation doesn't come out so great if you're fighting Gennady Golovkin at 160.

People like Hopkins were calling out Floyd. Let's not pretend they're doing it for "legacy." They're doing it for $$$ and publicity.

People are knocking on Cotto vs GGG because Cotto's the lineal MW champ! Like team GGG said, they're only going for the belt. If Cotto wasn't the champ they wouldn't be picking on him. But if the fight present itself they would of course take it too.

Martinez was cashing out dude. He very transparently had one or two fights left in him, it was obvious after the Murray fight if not the Chavez fight.

Cotto is one of the most well-known fighters in the sport, you're talking about him as if he was some nobody that Martinez deigned to fight. In reality Martinez was desperate for the big names to fight him. He spent years begging for Chavez Jr to take him on. Yes Martinez cared about his middleweight champion status, but don't stand here pretending he was taking on the toughest around for free. Like anyone else, he wanted big names to get big paychecks.

BTW I don't remember anyone asking Martinez to move up and fight Ward instead of waiting for Chavez or Cotto. They would have been laughed at.

i don't think alvarez is hype but i reckon his slow feet and inability to press the action will let cotto steal rounds. i don't think the fight will be the war that some are hoping for, both guys are deceptively educated boxers

martinez chose to fight cotto for $1.5m instead of golovkin because, in the words of lou dibella, golovkin is a beast. they never thought they could win that fight
