Who is the unproven MW titleholder? The silver medalist with over 350 amateur fights and has dominated his division to the point where there is not a single competitive fight out there for him?

That guy has no reason to be confident? This dude is in his mid 30s and in his prime. Y'all treat him like he's a prospect.

He doesn't have a "quality" win, remember? That makes him unproven. It's why his p4p ranking is unearned, he doesn't have a "prime A level fighter" like Froch on his resume. It's creditworthy he tried to make that his 1st fight at 168, far better than Azea Augustama say. Better even than Yunieski lol.

How about you show me one fighter in boxing that went up in weight to fight a division+ bigger p4p #2, who's the distant B side yet wants purse parity. How about when you got your first unification lined up on HBO PPV, and a megafight for 3 belts + lineal in the pipeline? Any examples there?

You'd think he was a first year pro with the way they want him protected.

The proposed deal was each fighter take an interim fight.

De La Hoya moved up and fought the distant b-side and p4p Hopkins. He just wanted to do something great and prove that be was the best. That's what it's all about.

Chavez moved to 147 to fight the distant B-side Whitaker.

De La Hoya move up from 140 to fight the distant B-side Whitaker

Cotto moved up to 160 to fight the distant b-side Martinez (we know about the knees after the fact but nobody picked Cotto to win) instead of waiting on Canelo

Leonard after a layoff moved up to fight the distant B-side Hagler

Granted 3 of the examples were at catchweights but you can't negotiate weight and purse split in 36 minutes. Besides, those fighters were a lot more accomplished and earned the right to call shots. They had much better wins than Geale and Murray.

Ward has made himself completely irrelevant and yet would still think it's his right to call the shots. He already cleaned out his division, then pulled the champion of the division above (Chad Dawson) down to his weight class and beat him, if anybody should move up it's him, and he basically has, his last fight was at 172 - only 3 lbs below Kovalev.

Let's be realistic, Ward will never be 168 lbs again and cutting that amount of weight won't be nearly as physically demanding as moving up to fight Kovalev. There wouldn't be much of a size discrepancy between the two either. If Ward chooses another 175 lb range opponent for his next fight, preferably someone in the lower half of the top 10, then I don't see any reason why him and Kovalev can't fight in spring 2016. Same network. No promotional acrimony. Let's do this!
