He doesn't get to demand a fight with a light weight champ, no. That'd be dumb. That would be the equivlent of what Ward is doing.

And, for the record, Ward-Smith (the entire two-hour TV broadcast block) apparently did just short of 325k viewers; that means the 10-round undercard fight, the musical performance by Nipsey Hussle, and the ~20 minutes of fill-in air time were all counted as being part of Andre Ward's fight. Note how no reference is ever made to the peak viewership for Andre Ward's fight. [PPV share was only even sideways mentioned as being a means by which RocNation would be able to finance Andre Ward's appearance on the PPV; ie, rather than simply increase the cost of putting on the show by the possible $2m for Ward's fight, you pay Ward $250k plus a share of the PPV worth $1.5m of the expected net proceeds. Cotto-Canelo is expected to do $50m on PPV ($25m, net proceeds), with Ward needing to get $1.5m to cover his fight, putting Ward's share at 6% of the net proceeds on the PPV (every other term stays as was negotiated)].

Golovkin is going to fight Lemieux, will likely fight the Johnson/O'Kane winner to fulfill the IBF mandatory, follow that up with the fight against Heiland for the vacant WBC belt, and fight two more cans, all on PPV mind you (since HBO isn't shelling out a $2m-$3m site fee for three straight 30:1 fights), as he hopes for a shot at the WBO belt.

honesty isn't a bad thing; you should try it out some time
That's pretty informative, although I think IBF will let him choose his next, the same as Cotto got to do.

I assume you are assuming Canelo is vacating the title?

I think he gets that and goes for Lee.

Then I think after unification, we'll see Lara, Andrade, etc. try to move up and fight to become his mandatory.

I see big fights down the line.

Heiland could indeed end up as a mandatory, but thats it........
      I read same thing.

Odds are that they won't, as doing so will undermine the entire "Golovkin will wreck anything" image that they and HBO have been pushing for the last three years.
Serious, I'd like to know who is talking about GGG/Kolalev now.

GGG would need to put on serious weight. No way.

None of those en****** would give up 50 cents to add Ward to the show, since he wouldnt add 25 buys to the event. The cost of the Ward fight would have to come solely out of Roc Nations pocket......
The guy never stops making up bull****. He's one of those guys that was writing 1000 words essays on how 40m flat was a fair and reasonable offer for Pac vs Floyd

You decided not to challenge his premise, I assume that's because you have no challenge.

I think Ward maybe adds 26 buys. But hey, I'm feeling good.

You know that only works if he never fights a guy bigger than him.

You Ward fans act like GGG has to give up his MW goals because you want him to lose.
finally we're getting somewhere. ..you admit little g would lose to ward..

that goes to show how much faith you have in the guy.. im actually a bigger ggg fan than you because i actually want to see him test himself whereas you want him to keep stacking up the tomato cans

asking little g to move up ONE division is equivalent to asking him to drink cyanide according to his irrational groupies.

Ward is ducking Kovalev how? Kovalev isn't fighting until next year. Ward has plenty of time to have tune ups and Kovalev himself is likely gonna have at least one too. He's been out for about half a year already. There is little issue here expect for the one u are making uo with some " insider" knowledge u must have. And no1 is saying Golovkin jas to jump 2 wight classes. He can jump one. Like he had every intention of doing for both Chavez Jr and Froch. As far as him fighting for the lineal title...who do u think he's fighting for that and when? It won't be his next fight, I guarantee u that. I'm not trying to twist ****. All I hear is excuses. It's not me coming up with excuses. Ward should fight Kovalev. And I believe he will, if he doesn't I'm not gonna be in the thread sounding like a ***** about why one of the best fights in boxing shouldn't happwn. Golovkin is a monster, everyone is scared of him until Ward is mentioned then it's " why should he have to fight Ward" it's beyond patheic. But u keep cosigning it tho. Yes compare mayweather to Golovkin because we all know thats a great comparison. Whatever makes u happy, but it's u guys who come off like a buncha save a hoe *****es.
Thank you for proving my point. U said Floyd ducked fighters and make it out t be no deal. But another fighter that you don't like ducks someone and you go on and on talking crap. You want GGG to go up and fight Ward at 168 right now yet you are ok with Ward taking 3 tune ups in order to fight kov? So is Ward going to fight these 3 tune ups in the next 6 months?

Therefore none of those plans went anywhere.

Now they're lined up to fight one of the biggest names in the sport sometime, likely in the first half of 2016, on PPV in probably the biggest fight of next year & he's getting his PPV cherry broken soon which will likely allow GGG to end the year as the A side fighter vs Ward when/if that fight every does get made. And Ward will continue to spin his tires cuz he's got lil to nothing to do in his division & seems to keep misplaying hands & thinking he's more valuable then he is. Both are talented fighters & I think Ward is the more talented guy & would beat GGG, but Ward is completely delusional about his options & earning power after parlaying his Super Six W into sitting on his couch for the better part of 4 years. Or thats my take anyway.
Only way Golovkin gets the fight in the first half of 2016 would be if Cotto or Canelo savaged the other within 6 rounds (a la Cotto-Geale or Alvarez-Kirkland); barring injury, literally any other result would lead to Cotto-Alvarez 2 on PPV May/June 2016 (possibly earlier, to open up the new Las Vegas Arena). On top of that, if the rematch does happen, the winner (and loser) of the fight likely won't get into the ring again until the late fall.

                Maybe I'm just a pessimist.

No one is earnestly expecting Golovkin-Lemieux to even do marginally decent business on PPV, but having that PPV fight to close out the year before heading into 2016 with Golovkin-Johnson and Golovkin-Heiland as the likely fights in the que (possibly on PPV, as I don't picture HBO being happy to go into the budget and put either fight on regular HBO) is placing a lot of hope on the Cotto/Alvarez fight actually happen.

And, imo, people are significantly discounting Andre Ward; he's only 31 years of age, he's the sport's best fighter (only reason that's even a conversation is because of inactivity; after sitting on the sidelines for 14 months, Ward showed no real signs of rust in utterly outclassing a guy who pushed the WBO 168lb champion through most of their two title fights), is signed to a promoter that's willing to put in the money, is based out of one of the country's top 5 media markets, and is coming back at a time when the sport is looking to fill a large void (18k-seat Oracle Arena, 18k-seat Barclays Center, and 20k-seat Las Vegas Arena can all be rotated in between).

Ward's personality already being TV friendly, while also coming to the table with hardly any baggage to his name, sets him up great once he gets active again.
