Ward was never barred from fighting on HBO. He's not a draw and wanted million dollar paydays for tuneup bouts. HBO rejected it. Nothing personal just business.
HBO can demand GGG fight Ward, just like they demand Kovalev NEVER fight Stevenson unless on HBO , and just like they demanded Stevenson to fight Kovalev . Instead they CHOOSE to allow GGG to fight can after can . Ward fought 1 tune up (Smith) and HBO sent him packing . Rodriguez wasn't a tune up , he was a undefeated viable contender making waves in the division . Except Murray, all GGG's fights are tune ups , and HBO is fine with it . Double standards are abound

That being said , Ward should move up as there is plenty of action at 175 . He probably should of left 168 long ago but he heard this 160 lb guy talking sh.t during a time when he couldn't fight and most likely stayed around to cash in that ticket he was sold , too bad he found out late that it was a wolf ticket .

To be real, we're totally different level of fight fan homie. Its very likely our idea of what a casual fight fan is is totally different. Honestly, I consider you several regulars on this site casual fight fans that are simply diehard fans or haters of particular fighters. Its all good. If yoy think GGG has crossed over and is a mainstream star, that's your world. Live in it.

One fighter is filling/selling out arena's, bringing in high ratings, and is in the demand. The other one isnt.

Again, its nothing personal. Just business on HBO's behalf.

Once Ward is on par with GGG as far as his star power and drawing power, I'm sure HBO will force the fight. That's if Ward isnt a full time LHW by then. Speaking of which? Didnt RN sports and Duva state that they're in talks with HBO for a potential showdown with Kovalev?

Yes , RN is negotiating a 3 fight deal with HBO to include the Kovalev fight . Ward wanted GGG first but GGG doesnt want the business . Too bad boxing fans couldn't have both !

This is ridiculous. Ward isn't barred from HBO. They trying to negotiate a 3 fight deal with him right now, for crissake!

The difference between Ward and GGG is that Ward had a $2million mimimum guaranteed purse, whoever he fought, and GGG was being payed relative peanuts until his popularity and fan base exploded.

HBO make money from GGG's fights, and they would have ended up losing money on Ward vs Paul Smith. That's the only reason it ended up on BET with Roc taking the hit instead of HBO.

If HBO think they can get views and make money from Ward they will welcome him back with open arms.

This is what I dont get. A natural MW is ducking a LHW? Just think about that for a second.

We all know that Little G and Co. obviously don't want it with Ward but what Sanchez just said is true. Andre has to get back to fighting and beating good fighters consistently.

We could still get them both, but not in the order Ward wanted them.

The reality is. Several eras ago, both fighters would probably be light heavyweights. But, I wouldn't expect a casual fight fan like yourself to knwo that.
