Comments Thread For: HBO, Showtime 10/3 Telecasts Produce Meager Ratings

It was another night of a divided audience between American cable giants HBO and Showtime, with the networks offering dueling boxing telecasts on October 3.

The ratings once again suggest that going head-to-head is never good for business. [Click Here To Read More]

This is the reason why boxing needs to get away from hbo and sho it limits the audience

So that's what Showtime paid a million for huh? Well at least he got paid, not Broner's problem

We should expect lukewarm fan interest and a ratings decline when the shows feature 2 guys that are over hyped but failed to meet expectations in the past.

There should've been 1 card with 4 fights Matts v Postol headline Broner v Khabib 2nd.

            That would have done well.

the 3 most watched fight so far in 2015- floyd/manny, thurman/ghost and wilder/duhapas- have all been Haymon fights.

Good, they need to stop showing fights at the same time.

yes, fights on two different networks isn't a good idea, the article however failed to mention that Postol-Matthysse was signed and sealed for October 3rd and then Al Haymon produced Broner-Khabib for the same night....because...that was just necessary.

Ultimately, the numbers are unfortunate, Postol vs Matthysse was a good fight. Naturally you'd want there to be an incentive (by viewership) to continually produce good fights (for either network).
