I am sick of hearing about both of them in the same sentence. GGG is active and is trucking along. Ward needs to seriously look into making fights.
Yes GGG tried to land a couple fights at super middle, but against 2 far more financially lucrative fighters. Ward also tried to land Chavez and get a rematch with Froch himself.
This is what happens when a fighter reaches the top of their food chain. When Ward was there after the super 6, he decided that semi retiring and soft opposition was his future meal plans. Suddenly the world forgot about him and he still wanted big money for nothing. Now GGG will end up doing the same damn thing. Once he becomes a financial star, he will also start to follow the rules of the same playbook Ward plays. The sport has gone to sh|t.Comment

We all know Ward was out of the ring for management and legal reasons , that does not change the fact Ward is a more proven fighter beating way better opponents than GGG has even matched , resume against resume it is what it is and I was answering a guy try to rubbish Ward for an tune up come back which is whack , if you wanna go down that road GGG has had a career of Paul Smith calibre tune up fights there is no comparison in the competition they have both faced .Comment

Couple of points on this: First, Ward's last fight was at 172, so there would be no reason at all for him to insist on 171.5 for Kovalev. That would be crazy.
Second, Loeffler and GGG did not insist on 164 for Ward. There are always negotiations about weight and money before 2 champions from different divisions fight, and 50/50 on both from GGG's team would just be the first step in that process.
The next step would be Loeffler asking for a bigger share of the purse for his fighter after Andre turns down the CW, in return for GGG agreeing to 168.Comment
