Realistically if we got any fights we wanted, boxing would still behind NFL, NBA, etc

One of the scorecards in the breazeale fight was 100-90. Tells you why most people don't care about the sport.

I agree. However this thread is about boxings popularity vs other sports and this fight took a dump all over the super bowl. The May pac fight police that people still love boxing and crave to see the best fight the best. Whether the fight actually delivered well that's a different story. Me and u know the answer to that.

            Well we all know that.

The purpose of making fights we want is to cater to the current fans.

                I disagree....l

If boxing had a structure and set schedule and the best matchups were made, it would easily be a major sport and probably even with NBA and just behind football, and more popular than baseball, golf, Nascar

                  Could be more popular, if:

                  -- real weight classes
-- one belt per weight class
                  -- an american HW champion
                  -- free TV

Boxing would still never approach college football in popularity, but it would be way bigger than it is now, and there would be "must see" fights for the masses, including for even the most casual fans.

Imagine what Mayweather v. Pacquaio could have been like in 2010. The fever was there, man. Society would have shut down for the fight if it had happened then, when Pacquaio still had a shine to him (and when he was still dedicated to the sport.)

Personally, I always thought Pac was too small for Floyd, but that's beside the point. He certainly thought he was big enough and he wanted the fight. But boxing took a big dump and (I think) took a deserved hit.

More accountability would turn boxing around; and, as mentoned, a single governing would be the only means to bring it about.

That has always been the case and it always will be. More people love football and basketball much more than boxing. Not me. Boxing is the only sport I watch and love. I enjoy the MMA fights too but they are a distant 2nd to boxing. Boxing has zero chance of ever being any where near as popular as baseball, football and basketball. Still I get to see lots of good boxing so I'm happy. More boxing and all of it free would be better but it's not going to happen.

Basketball, Football, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming, Track & Field, Wrestling, Golf, etc. these are all American sports that we can play in school, as you can see this is a large variety.

Boxing is not a school sport & that is where it's at a huge disadvantage. There are no scholarships for boxing, but for all those other sports, you can get your $100,000 education paid for.

Just by having these youth sports we're creating fans of these sports, each generation of kids after the next is exposed to these school sports.

High school and even middle school games are very popular, you have entire families attending watching, rooting for their team. This also influences the popularity of these sports, we are creating fans through these sports by hosting school games, creating rivalries...

Marketing is much easier with the NBA/NFL/MLB as well, all sorts of apparel, shoes, hoodies, socks, backpacks, shirts, jackets, hats etc. Your target audience is people of all ages, not just limited to adults.
