Realistically if we got any fights we wanted, boxing would still behind NFL, NBA, etc

Think about it. College football has mismatches like Alabama vs Louisiana Monroe. They still pack the stadium and the fans enjoy it.

The Washington Redskins, LA Lakers, Knicks, Cubs, etc could lose a trillion games and still pack the house.

Other sports just have better fans.

I seen alabama fans packed the stadium for a spring training game

Idk guys, yes it' ok to assume both football and basketball will ever have higher numbers than boxing or mma, i can understand it. Lets add Olympics to that two. But how come these boring jokes can have more popularity than boxing? : Tennis, rugby, cricket, golf, hockey, swimming, table tennis... I wouldn't still watch them even if i got paid some.

If boxing had a structure and set schedule and the best matchups were made, it would easily be a major sport and probably even with NBA and just behind football, and more popular than baseball, golf, Nascar

What if the top fighters are only fighting 2 or 3 times a year?

Boxing is not a school sport & that is where it's at a huge disadvantage. There are no scholarships for boxing, but for all those other sports, you can get your $100,000 education paid for.

Just by having these youth sports we're creating fans of these sports, each generation of kids after the next is exposed to these school sports.

High school and even middle school games are very popular, you have entire families attending watching, rooting for their team. This also influences the popularity of these sports, we are creating fans through these sports by hosting school games, creating rivalries...

Marketing is much easier with the NBA/NFL/MLB as well, all sorts of apparel, shoes, hoodies, socks, backpacks, shirts, jackets, hats etc. Your target audience is people of all ages, not just limited to adults.

              Yep everybody can wear jerseys

doesn't matter.... Most of the stay busy fights back in the day, were off-tv...

If the top level guys are always fighting other top level guys, the sport would reclaim its lost popularity.

Tend to agree. Well I mean boxing isn't likely to ever be as big as it was at the dawn of TV which I think mighta been the height of its popularity, but it can go back to being a more mainstream & popular sport. You need some quality control going on. Thats really the #1 thing boxing is missing from other top sports.

Having a pool of say the top 15-20 guys in a weight division only fighting each other (& guys moving in & out of that elite pool of talent as guys win or lose) would create more meaningful & competitive fights on a regular basis. Or just of some sorta situation where the #2 fighter in a division couldn't fight some guy who works full time for FedEx would be nice. I'm of the school of if you build it they will come. Boxing ain't built it yet is the problem.
