Realistically if we got any fights we wanted, boxing would still behind NFL, NBA, etc

I'm talking about we get all the fights we want and it's on free tv, it will still be behind the major sports in America. It would be the best combat sport though, that's for sure. The problem with boxing not surpassing those sports is because the individuals themselves will market towards certain demographics where as NFL, MLB, NBA, or even soccer doesn't. They market towards the vast majority of people and it's more about where you live at more so than your ethnicity. What do you guys think? Do you think boxing can actually surpass those major sports in America? Or even sports popular else where?

Idk if it'd necessarily be behind those sports. I mean boxing was one of the top sports in the US at one time. I think the culture has gotten pussified during that time, but the NFL is still mad popular & thats not all that soft & safe.

I think the main thing boxing needs is a centralized power structure like the other sports have which would have a byproduct of getting the best fighting the best. The biggest problem boxing has with the masses is there is nothing that suggests quality in the sport. The closest thing is probably HBO Boxing, but that still pales in comparison to the high level of quality you know you are going to see when a NFL, NBA or MLB game is on.

Boxing won't ever be on that level.

Think about it. College football has mismatches like Alabama vs Louisiana Monroe. They still pack the stadium and the fans enjoy it.

The Washington Redskins, LA Lakers, Knicks, Cubs, etc could lose a trillion games and still pack the house.

Other sports just have better fans.

Boxing will never be on the level of major team sports or even a sport such as tennis. The bottom line is that boxers simply cannot fight often enough to maintain such a fan base. There is no possible way that boxing can deliver the same top level quality of event on a day to day basis, not even on a week to week basis. It can barely supply one top level fight per MONTH.

MLB is full of Cubans and Dominicans that don't speak english so that argument is invalid.

yea but in baseball ur not selling that one single indivudual, you are selling the team rather,,and since baseball is entrenched in years of history, fans of a certain baseball club will remain and pass down being fan of that specific club no matter who the players are, even if every single one of them were foreign and didnt speak a hint of englich

in boxing ur selling one individual only, theres no "club" or "team" or "history" to ride on

You're right but I think it's because these sports are just more popular than Boxing. More ppl like Football more than Boxing. Just is what it is.
