I have said this for years, Cotto has one of the best styles and by extension chance, to defeat Mayweather (doesnt mean he will). I have always said Cotto had and still has more of a chance then Pac, because styles make fights. Cotto being more confident, with the most offensive trainer in boxing is a dangerous proposition for any opponent. A rematch is intriguing.
Greent. I concur. I will only add that he now has Gavin handling his conditioning The main reason Cotto lost becuase he blew his load after round eight. Uo to then it was neck n neck. Floyd took off from then. Cotto clearly ran out of gas. Cotto looked fresh after the nine round beat down he gave martinez. Looked like he could drop bombs for another 4 rounds no problem. He needs to thank Gavin.

Yea, but the potential is there for Canelo, because of his youth and ability.

Whereas Golovkin is getting on a bit now.

At Cotto has the experience and skill set to challenge floyd and have a chance to beat him. Any other fight has the same outcome as berto. With or without Peds.

Point is I'd rather see to hall of famers go at it rather than watch (and pay for) another snooze fest a la floyd vs berto.
I agree with the 'fresh' side. Right now you may believe Cotto is the better choice. But if the fight happened and Cotto clearly loses again, everyone will regret the fact that Cotto got a second chance. It's only if Cotto wins will anyone really be satisfied by a rematch.

But I do definitely understand your point of view. I like Cotto as a fighter, and I think he's VERY underrated. I think he beats Canelo. But many here seem to think Canelo is going to walk through Cotto. I think they are sadly mistaken.

Basically. But we can say that about boxers. Most have a punchers chance But as we saw against floyd, youth and power don't mean much with a certain level of skill. To be fair Canelo has come a long wat from the mayweather bout. So jm interested in seeing how he does. I don't think he will win but I think he'll do better than he did against floyd

We all know he's coming back doe.

If you've followed floyd for as long as I have you know one thing his ego gets the better of him. He will not let 50 -0 slip bye and he doesn't want to be tied with anyone. Hence TBE

I hope Mayweather stays retired. He has clearly lost a step or two and can go nowhere but down once he returns. Although he looked good against Pac, his second fight with Maidana and last fight with Berto were painful to watch.

Floyd > Cotto and Canelo and Golovkin.

                  1) Floyd
                  2) Cotto
                  3) Canelo
                  4) Golovkin

And the rankings will likely stay that way unless Canelo surpasses Cotto.

Middleweight is dead, and I doubt that Golovkin will fight the Cotto/Canelo winner..... so the only elite fighter under 168 is Ward, but Golovkin dont want none.

Floyd and Cotto will make the hall of fame, Canelo is only a kid with his whole career still in front of him, so the only one unlikely to make the HoF is Golovkin.

And GGG could have a good 5 years left, and he fights 4 times a year, so yea.

Canelo is just waiting to be exposed. He is a MW, bigger than GGG, but only fights smaller guys. How lame can he be.

                  #sackup

For one, Ward isn't under 168, in fact he isn't even 168. He is a LHW, has drained himself to fight (hold onto) smaller fighters.

MW is not dead, that's ******.

Floyd doesn't get the belt by fighting Cotto, the sanctioning body and Floyd already crushed that.

And maybe Canelo Ducks, GGG gets the belt for free then.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a win.

Back to Ward, he is a LHW would hasn't been fighting decent fighters in so long, I'm not sure he even thinks he can win.

I think he looked horrible against Smith. Chopping right hand looked almost like he couldn't throw it normal.

I'll believe Ward's holding azz is elite as soon as he fights someone decent, and not someone two division below him.

And GGG fight 4 times a year, and hasn't showed no slowing down. He could still have time to make HOF. Especially if he walks through com*****g like he does.

Even if Canelo Ducks him and vacates, it's not like fans will just forget.

That is true good point. If Cotto gets blown out it would be a total buzzkill and disappointment. I very much agree with you. I don't forsee that Happening though. I think even if cotto loses floyd will have to dig even deeper than he did in their first fight. It will be I think it will be a whole lot tougher for floyd. And therefore if will be a lot more entertaining.

Yes if cotto loses it will be a disappointment. But the question stands what is the alternative? The only one that comes to mind is ggg and that is totally unfair to floyd. Methinks anyway. Only other is manny. And I suspect that won't happen due to the blueballs it gave everyone. Now that was a disappointment of epic proportions.

And to be fair, Golovkin could get there on title defences and dominance of a weak division.
