but to be honest, I am not that interested in watching it, I think Oscar is past it, I'd be surprised if the hoya of old (quartey round 12?) shows up ever again. He had stamina problems in the later rounds in the past, can you imagine at 33 after a 20 months layoff? He is not a master at conserving energy like toney, his footwork is beautiful but he always used it too much.
Yeah the fountain of boxing youth separates the two.

    But.

For the sake of superfights, that is the superfight of them all. Sure Hatton v.s. Mayweather would be a jumbofight and would be a huge draw. But I really don't think the two fights compare as far as the general public's perception is concerned.

We are die hard boxing fans man. They don't know much about the sport and all they really know are names.

If the right people according to us were put in an "all time" bracket....Joe plumber who catches the occasional fight would say "what the mother ****?".

Knives, why do you think a guy has to lose and win the rematch to be considered the best ever? Mayweather overcomes adversity DURING fights, which is more impressive than doing it in a rematch. Rematches were made so the guy everyone wanted to win could win. Rematches are for guys who need a second chance to get it done. Rematches are a joke.

        Ok let me rephrase.

Floyd needs a superfight...and in that superfight he needs to overcome some serious adversity. Sure the Judah fight qualified as overcoming some adversity...but you and I both know Judah is no where near the best guy he could face.

If Floyd keeps walking through everyone.....people are going to really start to think the guys he's kicking ass on...are really just overrated. Not that Floyd is such a great..

        See what I mean?

I see your point. Maybe Mayweather should let his next opponent win more rounds than he let Judah win, and then finish them with a knockout late in the fight.

ok now i see what you are getting at, and I am personally interested in how boxing nuts like us will rate him all time, not those who think mike tyson is still heavyweight champion of the world.

But you are right: it MIGHT be the case that floyd ends his career on the level of robinson... how sad it would be if no one notices! Fighting Oscar will help avoid that!

Its not his fault, Floyd would just make them look overrated like he did to Gatti, Corrales and now Judah... The fighters he fights are tough but Mayweather is too good for anyone in his weight class.

I think Mayweather might retire as a light middleweight or middleweight, and if hes undefeated thats even better, all those fighters in his resume could'nt beat him...Come on if he beats Hatton, Dela Hoya, Margarito, Mosley...he will be considered #1 of all time in my list...and thats only if he beats them bad

I hope Floyd is ranked right up there personally.

                    Discuss please.........thanks
I already consider him to be somewhere in the all-time great pound for pound category, but not top 20 yet, perhaps top 30 or 40. If he does what you say above that would do it for me. He might beat another top guy though instead of Hatton, which would be just as good, such as Mosley, De La Hoya or 1 of the better junior middleweights in the world who wins a couple big fights between now and when he faces Mayweather.
