Actually I vaguely recall Loeffler saying they sold about 20k, I think they expanded the seating or something. I thought it had sold out before and TicketMaster wasn't showing any available seats left but now if you check TM you can get seats.

No, its not a PPV quality main event. But, HBO has hopped in bed with GGG with both feet. So I'm sure Team Golovkin thinx they've arrived, and demanded big money. And I'm sure Oscar demanded a pretty penny to cash out Lemieux. Hence, the fight goes to PPV so HBO doesn't have to foot the entire bill on their own. Hell, as little as 100K PPV buys gives the fighters another $3M to split. And the fight will at least double 100K.

i expect this to do close to 1 million ppv buys.

GGG is a big draw, gonzalez is a big draw, this will be a BIIGGG draw.

It's not a PPV fight but they're ready to see if Golovkin is a PPV fighter. He has quite the following now.

If it does a million buys, GGG is officially the biggest star in boxing history.

Do the guys that love GGG still think people buy fights for the undercard?

                      Bingo !

                      And not just Ward.

                      They are avoiding movers/spoilers.

They turned down Lara - despite the fact that he will fight Golovkin at 160, and despite the fact that Lara would be the best name on GGG's resume - and stated that Willie Monroe Jnr was a bigger draw.

                      WTF ?

They refused to even consider Mora.

And they killed a potential fight with Ward by demanding a catchweight they know he cant make.

This is not new. Matchmaking has always been critical to the fight game.
