This entire story reeks of cowardice. Loeffler's basic position is why should Golovkin fight in a fight where he has a 65 percent chance of losing when he can fight in one fight after another where he has a 65 percent chance of winning.

Loeffler knows Golovkin will not get a shot at the Cotto/Alvarez winner. Oscar De La Hoya already said it will be at least two to three years before he is willing to put Alvarez in the ring with Golovkin. Cotto's philosophy is the same as Golovkin's philosophy against Ward. Cotto can make just as much money fighting lower tier fights as he can against Golovkin.

That is why he will continue to put Golovkin in the ring against one version of Willie Munroe Jr. after another instead of risking his HBO future against Ward.
