Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman: Shawn Porter Fight is Extremely Likely

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith "One Time" Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) has a very good feeling about the possibility of a fight being finalized with former beltholder "Showtime" Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs).

Both of them want the fight. Last week at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they faced off for the cameras prior to a media event for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto pay-per-view.

I would rather see Brook vs. Thurman, and Khan vs. Porter!

This fight will help cement either guy as a top flight welterweight. There are doubts about both as it stands today. Both are good guys and good/possibly great fighters. I give the edge to Thurman. Too much ability to move, combined with Porters inability to avoid punches effectively. Looking forward to the possibility of this fight.

Real tough fight to call. Expecting Porter to be the aggressor with Thurman trying to time and catch him. Thurman prefers to keep to his distance, once Porter gets inside it's his kind of fight, almost 50/50 overall but would go with Porter close decision.

Dangerous dangerous fight. I'm a Thurman fan, (I do like Shawn too). But this fight is a pic em fight. Slight edge One Time. If Broner could hurt Shawn, One Time can. And One Time throws punches. But he's too wide and sloppy early. That's where he's most likely to be hurt himself.

I'd like to see Thurman fight Berto next and Porter fight Danny Garcia and then they face off. Or have Porter/Berto and Thurman/Maidana. It'd be nice if Shawn could win the WBC first.

Berto would be a perfect test for Errol Spence Jr. That should be the co-main event for Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guererro on PBC!

I think size wise they are both official ww's, but Thurman needs to be on the outside until Showtime burns off his initial steam. First few rounds might be ugly, then rapidly Thurman will allow his technique to take over. They do need to start some kind of round robin tourney for the welters
