Terrific fight, I don't know why people are on here discussing other potential fights. Who cares? Let's just get this fight done and clear up the welterweight picture.

I like how both guys are willing to fight each other even though they're friends, a few other boxers out there should take note.

Great fight... Thurman and Porter will be a classic.. Their styles mesh so well together. Probably the most entertaining matchup that can be made at welter besides
      manny-maidana

I like thurman, probably late stoppage in the 10th or 11th.. It will be a star making performance by thurman

Good. Ballsy fight that firmly puts the person in the top 3 with Pacquiao and Bradley at WW.

Potentially a bad style match up for thurman. He is either gona have to stand and let his hands go or clinch like brook did

Thurman is going to have to box well off his back foot of he hopes to have success.. Porter is there to be hit

It could also end up being the opposite, and being a very favorable matchup for Thurman. His footwork (lateral movement), jab, and power punching might be a nightmare matchup for Porter who likes to bull rush his opponent while throwing wide shots. Even Guerrero wasn't too keen on trying to rush Thurman and get inside until he got dropped and just went for broke in the 10th or so round.

While I believe this will be a very good fight, I think this is a bad fight for Porter. Porter's loss to Brook (I scored fight very close) was due to a few factors that Thurman has in spades. Brook being taller, longer, moved better, and controlled distance far better then Porter. Thurman does all these thing very, very well with the added power punching in both hands and off his back foot. Thurman is a counter/power puncher, he will not clinch like Brook, Thurman will step out on angles while countering with big shots. Although Thurman is only 1 inch taller, he fights straight, where as Porter hunches over due to his style so Thurman will be much taller in the ring. And although Porter's reach is actually a 1/2 inch longer his style requires lunging in with wide punches which shortens his reach, while Thurman drops straights while moving. Add to that Thurman prefers fighters come to him. I would be absolutely beyond impressed if Porter wins this fight.

I want Khan to fight Brooks, Porter or Thurman. Doesn't have to fight all of them, just one. But I would rather see Khan v Brooks, Porter v Maidana, Thurman v Spence. With Mayweather gone and Pac nearly done, this could be the new Super 6 at WW.

Good match up, look forward to it. Both fighters still have to prove themselves against higher level opposition so this might help take them a small step in the right direction though still arguably not all the way there since both fighters are still essentially unproven.
