Why is Crawford and Matthysse not in the works?

Usually a boxer waits for the outcome of one big fight before making another big fight. Matthysse is a hell of a fighter but so is the man he is fighting. He is not a sure thing to win. I think he wants to give this fight 100% of his effort and attention and worry about Crawford after his current fight is over.

Even if he wins he still won't be thinking about Crawford since Amir Iman is the WBC mandatory, that the guy he should be thinking about

Matthysse was actually Crawford's mandatory and the WBO President wanted the fight.

Only question I have is whether Golden Boy wanted the Crawford bout or preferred the easier Postol bout. We may never find out.

Now I understand that Lucas has a mando and its a fight that makes sense but shouldnt this fight be the fight in the works? I mean all we heard about was the end of the cold war and imo this is the fight to make. That big pr campaign oscar and arum did about ending the cold war to try make haymon look bad even tho haymon is only one willing to enter purse bids. If they are serious this fight will happen soon.


Maybe im not being fair but with all the bs people talk about everything else imo they should be just as serious about this fight happening

Mathysse of course wants to finally get a well deserved belt he probably should have got already. Great fight though none the less, so we shall see if the cold war really is over

Because Matthysse has always wanted the WBC belt so he's fighting for it. Plus Arum doesn't wanna put Crawford in with Lucas and De La Hoya was too keen to put Lucas in with a tricky fighter like Crawford.

It's too early for it to be in the works, they both have upcoming fights. That 'in the works' stuff doesn't mean anything anyway. Remember when Matthyse and Broner fought disappointing opponents on the same card but they told us it was ok because they'd be facing each other next afterwards?

Arum does clearly still favour in-house matchups though. I don't think he's going to risk one of his guys against someone dangerous unless it's big money. Crawford seems ambitious, maybe Arum keeps him against safe opposition until he can sell a fight between him and Pacquiao, but maybe Crawford and Matthyse both push for the fight and it happens.

i guess technically if they make 1 fight its better then it was before but i feel like were being hoodwinked as fans by top rank. hell i think even gbp is being hoodwinked by top rank. I get both are possible opponents for manny tho but imo they should fight and the winner get manny. Plus we all know if bradley beats rios that most likely we will see manny bradley 3. I will honestly be shocked if manny fights an opponent not in top ranks stable
